I don’t need them to invent anything new, just take the 4.0L engine out of the Cayman GTS and put it in SOME model 911, they can use the same manual transmission too! Can’t one of their interns handle this? :-)
Good find, well that sucks. While it’s not a huge deal by any means, the removal of a Porsche specific design element is sad to see, the button probably saves them $0.13 per vehicle though.
Watch the entire video on YT. The screenshot is NOT of the 992.2 test car. It is Bergmeister driving a RS or Cup car on the Ring. Note rollbar,, seat, etc. . Not uncommon for Porsche race cars to have a start-stop button. Not sure this screenshot means anything since it is not a production 992.2. We will know for sure soon enough.

It’s quite common for Porsche to fit a roll cage and racing bucket to a production Carrera when going for times at the ring. When the .1 S came out and did ring testing it had the same setup.
Also that shot has the PDK Braun shaver stalk (not a cup or RS feature). I think the 992.2 lost the left key switch...More cost cutting or the way of the future ?

Bergmeister recently stated on Spike’s Car Radio (37:05) that after last years big accident on the ring where two development drivers were killed he is demanding a 6 point harness, a cage or at least a bar in the rear and if he really starts pushing it he wants a full cage in the car.
Joerg did not want go into details about the two drivers killed, but they were from tire industry,

really puts things in perspective when we all quibble about how fast or not fast these cars are and the difference between trims. Some of the best drivers in the world demand cages to push these things. That probably means us mortals really shouldn’t care that much after a certain level of performance or try to get anywhere close to the limits of even the slowest 911

Well said, 100% accurate.

Agreed, and that alone would probably be enough to make me abandon my dot one. Spike, Seinfeld, and Lieberman swear that the double wishbone suspension is what makes the 992 GT cars so amazing, especially in comparison to the non-GT models.

No definitely not in the front, Porsche has future-proofed the 992 model for hybridisation, using a re-engineered eight-speed PDK transmission from the Panamera that’s got a space in it for an electric motor.
