Sounds like we might be over in Zuffenhausen at the same time. I'll buy ya a beer!

I think it’s the smart move. I passed on a used 991.2 T because it didn’t have rear seats and went with a cheaper/new Cayman GTS 4.0 at the time. I don’t understand why some would want to limit the versatility of a 911 when Porsche makes a more powerful/lighter two seater in the CGTS 4.0/GT4.

I know flame suit on.

Yeah I had a thought similar to this, part of the appeal of the 911 in general for me has always been the idea of the versatile sports car and the rear seats are part of that even if only used as shelves. I'm not sure how available they are but if I just wanted a 2 seater track car it would make more sense on paper for me to get a 718 with the 4.0. I may still do that down the line, space and funds permitting. There is a cool factor to rear seat deletes from the factory that speaks to me which hard to ignore, probably the main reason I'm a little torn about it.

Fingers crossed! I do worry about the talk of ED being heavily backed up pushing back delivery dates into July as opposed to April/May. Everything is uncertain.

For me, it is the versatility from the storage space behind the seats more than the rear seats themselves. The ability to quickly throw a backpack, carry on, grocery bags, whatever in the back seat area adds a lot of utility versus a true 2 seater. I don't want to have to pop the frunk every time I need to put something in the car. I'll take rear seat delete since it actually provides a little bit more storage space, but won't get the fixed buckets because I can't access the storage behind the seats.

As stated in an earlier post, my build date is Feb 24th. I am being pushed to take delivery at Leipzig. I reached out to my SA earlier this week and supposedly they can get me a slot in May at Leipzig when they release slots on 12/1 and supposedly on a wait list for Zuff. I will bug him again next week if he doesn’t reach out first. Will keep you guys posted.

I posed the rear seat delete/no delete question to the board and basically you gain very little by deleting the seats. I don't care about potential resale value so that wasn't an issue. In the end I added them in to my T build bc I'm ordering the Lizard Green T Interior package and might as well get my entire money's worth!

I think the one thing you will benefit from with no rear seats, is even more increased sound. Rear seats are, in-effect, more sound deadening.

It doesn't appear on the UK configurator. I checked to see if maybe it was a standard feature for you guys but the technical specs lists a 64 liter tank (instead of the extended 90 liter)

That sucks

Yup, the removal of the rear seats gives you a slightly more viceral/raw experience in the cabin because the engine sound doesn't have to travel through the seat's foam/leather/cloth to get to you. It's not a massive difference but if you don't need the rear seats it adds just that bit more to the experience.

On comparing a two seat Cayman to a two seat 911, it comes down to what you want. The Cayman has a significantly older interior (it's very lightly changed from the 981 that debuted in 2012) with much older tech. It also gives you a more raw experience - more tire and road noise than from any modern 911 I've been in. In terms of driving, the mid engine is a joy to drive because you can carry so much speed through corners, and in GTS or GT4 trim you get the 4.0 flat 6 NA motor which screams with an aftermarket exhaust. The 911 somehow feels larger despite similar physical dimensions, gives you the turbo boost from the 3.0 which gives you a flat line wall of torque and if you don't mind voiding warranty gives you big power, and the very unique 911 corner exit ability of being able to stand on the throttle early and put down what seems like unlimited amounts of power thanks to the weight transfer to the back. The Cayman and 911 are both fun in their own ways - and the Cayman benefits from being a lot cheaper.

If you don't get the LWBs there's a ton of room behind the front seats in the 911 - more so than the Cayman frunk and trunk and above engine storage areas (plus super useless cubbies on each side of the engine.) Protip: you want to use boxes or those black home Depot storage totes with the yellow caps to store stuff so it doesn't roll around and hammer into the back of your seats. Plus the 911 can be optioned with the roof rack prep unlike the Cayman so you can put a roof box on. I know a guy who brings a box with all his track supplies to track days on the roof and in the back of his car, it's surprising how much stuff he can fit in there.

Is the T pack the pinstriping on the cloth insert, contrast stitching, and the colored seatbelts? Looks like the regular leather pack still has the 911 stitched, just not contrast? For some reason I thought the 991.2 T pack was a little bit more than that but I don't remember.

Rear seat delete goes against the ethos of the 911.

Exactly. Not just very little, but literally nothing.

In fact, you lose by deleting the rear seats. As in weight.

Which is why I would delete the seats if I was ordering a T.

Because, y'know, #Ethose
