Seems there’s lots to talk about, so here’s a few basics to get started:-
- GT silver
- Manual (probably the no. 1 reason for me to get the T)
i was lucky to get an early cancellation on my dealer’s second T allocation back in May and didn’t have a lot of time to lock in spec. Had I had a bit more time - and the collective wisdom of this group - I would likely have added interior trim in exterior colour (agree, this would look good in GT silver) and would have thought hard about deviated stitching. Maybe next time.

So back to our daily scheduled programming…
Im in southern Florida, drove by a gas station called RaceTrac fuel today and stoped to fuel the family SUV. They have something I haven’t seen before, non Ethanol fuel. Back in my M3 days ethanol was thought to had been the cause of high and low pressure fuel injector failure. RaceTrac has an 88 octane no ethanol gas. I prefer 93 for my cars so I’m curious does anyone have any experience with an underrated octane of 88 in the Porsche ethos, with results that gives the benefit of not degrading internal engine parts that are in contact with fuel on a constant basis? Otherwise again like I said I’ve always just used Shell 93 Premium but it does have 10% ethanol I believe?

You always want to use at least the minimum recommended by the manufacturer. I think that's 91 on the 992? Otherwise you will get engine knock and in an effectively high compression engine, that can lead to very expensive failures. Engine computer might tune power and timing down to allow the 88, but at then at the very least you are sacrificing performance.

Yeah not looking to underpowered or retard my timing. Ethanol seems to have not had any reported adverse effects on the Porsche 6 cylinder. Just wanted to see if I was good with my assumptions. Staying with Shell 93 Premium with ethanol for its max producing power and cleaning additives. 🙏

@wilder Apologies for the delay in my reply but regrettably went to London over the weekend and caught Covid from my daughters mother in law visiting from Chicago.
So a little under the weather.
Thanks again finally, I think my freeze is next week, so time for any changes if needed.
Looks like you are having a ball at the Rennsport keep posting the pics.
Best, Devon Racer.

@ Wilder Oh I meant to say I have a set of Peltor intercoms that I use on rallies in my 60's cars so they should do the trick if the noise gets too much?
But seeing nearly 130 mph at 3,300 rpm in 7th is amazing so at a steady 80 revs will surely be hardly over 2,000 rpm?

Another night, another pic.

@Wilder
Your latest pic is the best so far, you can see more clearly how dependent you are on the ladder’s support!
How many people will it sleep?
I imagine you get attractive women coming up to you regularly to ask you the same question?!
How small is it folded down?
Im seriously tempted to get one!

Whilst I could not join the Rennlist meeting I was enjoying myself again on a trackday. Still with my first tires after 24.500km but finally it is time to order a new set of Michelin!
Funny to see my car on the screen
This was an insane colored GT3
Nice to see a brother T in sharkblue with the sharkblue GT3T.

Has anybody tried the Sportschrono on track or anywhere? It just draws a line of the track you drive and when you come back to the starting point it knows it’s a circle and will clock all the laps for you. Just brilliant! I will make a video out of it today. And here a very nice picture. Not staged but just taken by phone but the people in the background removed.

I haven't used Sportschrono on the track at the Glen yet, I am so wrapped up in the comments from my instructors I forget all about it. Next year I will get signed off to solo that's when I'll use it.

Unless you plan to fill up your 911, then not move your car for months, you should have zero concerns regarding ethanol in fuel. And even then, I would worry more about the fuel quality and how it is aging than the ethanol in it.
Depending on the market/country, you can have from 0 to 10% ethanol in premium fuel (91-95 AKI, 98-103 RON).
In Germany, V Power 100 and Aral 102 only contain "traces" of ethanol, up to 0.x%.

A nicely "cycled" tire. A good sign someone is really "using" his 911.
I find it funny when I see GT3s with Cup2s that were never heat cycled. I guess coffee runs are not that hard on the tires.
@Macboy , I see lots of nice cars...but no Boxenluders?! How come? And so close to Harlem...
Also...2:00.000 min for a lead and follow lap is pretty respectable!
New driving gloves?
