I agree but if dealers are not prepared to heavily discount the cars they are going to sit because unless you are totally not price sensitive, you are not going to be prepared to pay full price or close to full price for a 2020 car when even 2021's can be got for 3-6%. One thing that it will do is slow down depreciation and we could land up like another 997 situation when very few cars were sold in 2008 in and around the crash and the cars that were are holding their. value really well.
Recently a dealer offered me no more than 5% off a 2020 left over car when another dealer offered me 6% off a 2021 build - unless I am totally price insensitive and want the car NOW there is no way I am going for the 2020. Granted these were both C2

I checked out the C2S’s 2020 on Auto Trader last night just in case I need a backup plan. Cars are Spec’d with too much unnecessary “luxury” crap I have no need for. Consequently the price is higher than my car on order, probably the same with a discount. I was told in May when I ordered it would be December maybe January before arrival. Moved up a couple of times since to October 23rd. I’m going to stick it out even if it means waiting another month or so. Happy? No, but I’ve waited this long and I really want that car.

My SA gave me the update that EPA approval/release is now expected on 11/6. I know this is the same date that has already been out here for a week or, and I’m only providing this as a consistent data point.

even though they were both C2, what were the stickers? Porsche dealers tend to give you more % when you add more options. A lower spec car doesn’t have the same juice in it as a higher spec car. That said, I don’t blame you. I’d still take a 21 even if the discount on the 20 was significantly more. I really don’t want a first year Porsche. I don’t want to be their Guinea pig.
I believe the dealer was suffering from cognizant dissonance. It is still for sale.

They are so clueless. Mine was 9/6, then 10/6, and now 11/6. Seems like they have no idea when it will be done so they keep adding a month. No precision to this at all as they add the extra month the day after they miss the old date. Random.

they have no real clue when these cars will be released from hold in port - no clue. i believe they are trying to "fix" the situation but it could be 11/6, 12/15, 02/14/20, pick any random date.

Made me think... You think something actually needs to be "fixed" or are they just waiting for a sign off. Had not considered something might actually be wrong with the cars. Perhaps, they failed certification.

Exactly...some engine code may be in the process of being tweaked...

I have no idea but the "fix" angle is what truly concerns me. Sign off will happen soon if it is not a fix issue - if its a fix issue . . . we just all hang on and take it. As many have said in this thread, its the uncertainty and ZERO communication from Porsche that really disturbs me. I have an incredible amount of patience when I receive honest and accurate information. It is what the customer deserves, especially at this price point.

I keep tapping my brakes but time will tell I suppose.
