To take a bad situation and make it even worse. We could be sitting in a country in the midst of terrible turmoil with a contested Presidential Election, Civil Unrest, and a Pandemic. Hopefully though Hurricane Season will be over, so that's a positive. Yes, I think that is the time I will be excited to hear from my dealer, your car is in please bring your $150K check by! Timing is everything!

Everyone is cheating?

BTW, CO2 being treated as pollution and climate change movement itself is a bogus BS to begin with. EPA is way out of control.

But, but—it’ll be fun! And opinions will change! And we will all become edified and feel good!

I talked to the GM at my dealership yesterday and they had no idea why my delivery date was pushed from 10/9 to 11/13. All they could say was Porsche decided not to release the 2021 992s until 11/6. While I am frustrated and disappointed, my bigger issue is that I already turned in my lease based on the promised delivery date and now don’t have a car while I wait. The GM offered to pay for a rental car until my car arrives. Now that I read this thread, I have low confidence that 11/13 is a reliable date so I will be taking the dealership up on the offer to pay for my rental. This is my first Porsche and let’s just say this experience does not make a good first impression. Disappointing!

Rental Car like a Ford Focus? Nah, tell him you'll take one of his used 911s until your car arrives.

There are hundreds of 2020 911s sitting on showroom floors right now coming in to a couple months that are going to be volatile (to say the least). I bet Porsche is projecting some slow sales for 911s in the next 90 days. Flooding the market with a backlog of 2021s that are sitting at the port would be bad news for the cars on the floor. i'm SURE this has nothing to do with the delays.

Maybe so, but then they should not have been building custom 2021's. At least release the customer-spec'd 2021's if that truly is the reason.

There could be some truth to that. And, it's not just 911s. All models are being held back as far as I can tell. My dealer said they have not had any 2021s delivered. A quick search of some other nearby dealers shows zero 2021s in inventory, but several 2021s with VIN numbers that are "in transit" or "coming soon."

There are only 260 new 992 of all type in the us.... that’s 5 per state... inventory is super low

I have not surveyed the websites of all Porsche dealers in the USA, but I have done so in Texas. In Texas, I do not think there are more than 2 or 3 2020 911 Carreras available in the state. On top of that, there are almost zero caymans or boxsters. Porsche can't sell a sports car in Texas right now because there are almost none.

Now, there a quite a few Taycans, Cayennes, and Macans sitting around.

Default Updated 992 TurboS production schedule

TYD reports a slightly faster production schedule for my 992 TurboS: ordered in March:

Lock date was 9/15
“Scheduled for production” date was 9/29
Started production on 10/7 (10/9 had been the estimated date)
Finish production date unchanged as yet - still estimated as 10/16 (CT scheduled for same day)

Shipment/delivery dates from Emden to Davisville unclear- presumably either
Swift Ace 10/20-11/5
Viking Queen 11/3-11/18
