Default 2021 Delivery Date?

I've got a 2021 911 sitting at the port in Davisville and my dealer is saying they won't be able to deliver until mid-month. Does anyone have a 2021 yet? For those with orders that have already shipped, what is the earliest delivery dates you are hearing? I know the Siem Confucius was the 2nd boat to arrive here with 2021s onboard--a bunch of cars have been in Davisville for 3 weeks already. Definitely aware of the emission approval issue but wanted to know what others are hearing in terms of timing.

Kills me to think of it sitting out there for days in the pouring rain!

A lot of us waiting on our 21’s saw TYD update to 10/2 from 9/11 sometime this morning. So, looks like it might be beyond mid September and, instead, into October that we’ll be in the holding pattern.

Yes—2021 here. Car will arrive to the San Diego port on Saturday, but it will likely be 4 weeks before I get to take delivery. EPA (for all cars) and CARB (for California cars) certification (or rather, delay of certification) is causing this as best I can tell.

Welcome to EPA purgatory. My car has been in Houston since 8/20. This is costing Porsche millions to have cars just sitting in port. Someone in Porsche screwed up here, they could have submitted the 2021 paperwork a long time ago since no changes were made to the drivetrain.

Yeah, that’s what I was complaining to my wife about last night. Also a prime example of government bureaucracy. “Well, we better re-certify because those new, multi-color interior lights might change the emissions.”

Again, the release date is based on EPA. Your dealer is giving you information as of 2 days ago. If they go into their system today, they will see it changed. 9/11 was the old date, 10/2 is the new one. Porsche is not keeping cars in the warehouse because they want to.

There have been various news reports and Porsche press releases over the past week, regarding possible 2008-2017 911 Porsche emissions certification software games. Hopefully this gets resolved rapidly and doesn't encompass more than what the reports currently reference. That said; EPA fines tend to be based on a per-vehicle algorithm. Hope that's not what's holding up the show. FWIW the current 2021 EPA Light Duty Vehicle list (dated July 2020) see link below, does NOT list any 2021 Porsche's.

Ugh! You are correct. My TYD just changed to 10/2. Does seem like someone really messed up given the cars have not changed much since last year. Must be costing extra $$$ to store the cars and probably means they need a bunch more cleanup after a month outside.

Now, that is weird. Are they just randomly tacking a month on to everything? If 10/2 is the new "allowed to deliver" date you'd think you should get it earlier.

Yea I hope its just a placeholder date. But who knows. Could be due to CARB delays. I guess we'll just have to watch it and see.

Interesting to note that VW's other brands are largely certified for 2021, but Porsche is a glaring exception. Also see that the total number of 2021 certifications so far is only 16% of the total number of 2020 certifications. Doesn't make it any easier to take, but we are not alone.....
