Ahh, ok, DME edit. APR can also flip this bit, as an option in the tune file.
I will stick with the $79.00 Ali module, it works well.

It has been stated in other posts that you can disable A/S/S in the DME but I found no details about how. This is how - I’ve verified on my car.

I'm not saying it's not possible as several tuners are capable of disabling it, but modifying parameter(s) in DME via PIWIS to achieve this has not been done AFAIK. Thank you for sharing the links as I'm sure this is of keen interest to many.

I’m sorry, I think you misunderstood what I said. This is not a coding change with PIWIS, it requires DME write access so you can reflash the TC299TP microprocessor ROM, not just the configuration file

Got it.

A kit is available from ali as mentioned above for VW, Audi, Skoda and Cayennes but not for 992s. There is an outfit that also has a kit for 992s but price is $450 beyond what I'm willing to pay when the Ali kit is like $60. Thanks for the pointer but not knowing enough about how to do this AND having had my car bricked due to a faulty ConBox it's not something I want to relive.

After collecting info on 992 mods and playing with PIWIS 3 in simulation mode for a number of weeks, I finally took the plunge and spent a couple of hours yesterday doing it for real. Thanks to all of the superstars in this thread for all the detailed info 🙏

FYI - I'm using PIWIS 3 in a Win10 VM with a 6154A clone and a 100A 3-15V modified server PSU

Changes made to my 992.1 MY20 Carrera S PDK with Sport Chrono
1. Speedo Tip to red. Source link
2. Welcome Screen Car to GT3RS. Source link
3. Turn off Driver's Seatbelt Warning Chime. Source link
4. Rear lightbar lit with DRLs. Source linkThe rear lightbar DRL mod didn't seem to have worked, I will have another look at that.

However, A VERY positive but unintended consequence was the effect of the Welcome Screen Car change. See combo image below
I happen to have the GT3RS Weissach shifters and so decided to try setting the Kombi -> Kodierwert: Welcome Screen Karrosserieform to GT3RS.
In addition to the welcome screen car change, it also changed all of the dial markers to yellow and works really well for me with the speedo tip in red.
It also enabled the GT3 Reduced Display option, which I wasn't aware was possible on early 992.1 models. That may have something to do with my replacement cluster adventure.
In Reduced Display mode it also shows the shift lights when in manual mode, but those lights don't do anything .... for now ...

Not a bad start to my coding adventures at all, the only downside is that I'm absolutely going to do more of it!

Yep, that is the case any time you change the welcome screen. I am running the S/T welcome screen settings to get the green instrumentation.

The part that excites me about the reduced display above is actually seeing the oil temp as opposed to the useless water temp.

Did you set it to GT3 ST3 or GT S/T?

Yep, that is it.

My car is a 2021 model with the first software version. I don't have the reduced screen option. Is it possible that activating this feature would enable it? Or, for example, would I be able to see the speedometer needle in full?

I think you’ll like it. Even the shift light numbers/rev meter are green:

Choosing the Sport Classic option will also accomplish implementation of the green instrumentation.

You would need to perform additional coding for the full speedometer needle, etc.

Mine's a 2020 model, but I do have a newer replacement cluster - perhaps that's why I see the Reduced Display option
