I took a factory tour on Tuesday - and they told us they are at full capacity - three shifts a day and 350 cars a day. And no supply issues for 911 or 718. Also said the steering column issue was also that they had some issues and wanted to redesign the parts in some way.

maybe too many warranty issues….

by the way it is a rather small assembly line and not very many robots - mostly used to move parts around from station to station. The cars are mostly hand assembled which is why they cost us so much.

they only use hides from bulls also which are more uniform in color then female and other Cow gender hides.

Only bulls?! That’s discrimination!
How many cow genders are there?

If you are a rancher/farmer, cattle are classified in 5 categories.

Good to know that they restarted the factory tours. How did you get reservations for the tour in Stuttgart? Not able to find the website for it.

My 992S just arrived at Jax. Spoke to my SA yesterday. He said all 992s have a “Stop Delivery” for Recall WNF 5 which is a software upgrade. He called it “ re-programming gateway control unit or over-the-air control unit” update. He was uncertain whether they would do the upgrade at port or dealer but cannot deliver until it is done. This might explain the US port delays.

Searched the recall and title. Not much out there save a general RL discussion in the Turbo forum among owners experiencing same US port delays.

I just got a allocation for a 992 Cab, September build at MSRP. I’m pre trading a 2021 coupe with 1,100 miles.

2nd time this happened. The 1st time they pushed it out several weeks. This time, the CP8 date 6/3/22 hasn't updated. I'm like a kid looking for updates everyday!

Interesting - there are several YouTube videos showing 992's being assembled. It looked like the body shop was fully robotic along with the paint shop.

I'm glad these cars are hand-built, but don't fool yourself, sometimes that "hand craftsmanship and care" is just being done because it's the simple thing to do
Ehhhh, not so much. The closest you're going to get to a hand-built car is a high end Pagani or something. These 992's are largely assembly line built with robots with some additional human interfacing (...along with quality control checks by a human), but let's not kid ourselves here. They are not any more "hand built" than the typical assembly-line built vehicle.

The intervention is no different than any other car built on an assembly line.

I am paralyzed by the waiting. It has been at the port since 5/16 and my delivery date was 6/3. Now they are telling me the car is waiting on a "gateway control module" Anyone ever have this delay? I check my TYD app every hour and call Porsche every morning and evening waiting for something to change.

A year of waiting and now I can't get the car from the port to the dealer.
