A few of us have been given the April date from the SA out of the system, though TYD is just blank. My guess is new chips to the port in March, month to retrofit and clear backlog. Just before the next ships arrive with cars with correct chips. We are all guessing at this point, and I have zero confidence in Porsche estimate at this point.
From what I heard, they want to fix everything in Germany first before it gets on a boat. The ones already here or about to be here will have to wait at customs...there's no official timeline I've heard for that as I think it's just too hard to give an accurate estimate.
So my car is scheduled to be built next week and delivery is still a go for March 28th. If this happens on time and on schedule I will still feel really bad for those of you that have to wait months. Dad always said it was better to be lucky than good.
My production date was just pushed back 5 days to April 8. I wonder if they are rescheduling production based on availability of correct components for import to US. Who knows
We reached out to Frank Wiesmann, manager, Product Communications at Porsche Cars North America. He had this to say about the delayed cars:
“We are working to rectify a delay in delivering certain Porsche vehicles from ports to dealers due to a customs issue. At issue is a small electronic component that is a part of a larger control unit, which will be replaced. The first shipments of replacement parts are now on the way and will be fitted as soon as possible. We will provide additional updates to our dealers and customers in due course.”
"Gold-certified" Porsche technicians will be installing these chips at the ports. Impacts 911s, Cayenne, Panamera, Taycan and some Audis. Just cars with new Infotainment system so not Macan. Hard to know on timing- couple months likely. Infotainment makes me less stressed than some performance chip. Porsche has dealt with issues like this before and has made it right for the customers. On battery concern- esp for lithium, they will have technicians or someone start up any cars that are waiting for extended periods- run the engine for a bit, repeat. Standard procedure. Not going to stress about it- my first 911. Have waited almost 40 years for this.

Please reference the source of this false information. No one is starting anything to idle for battery health.
That’s rich! They’ll literally tell you anything to get you to leave them alone. Porsche is deploying their GT Cup racing team mechanics to check tire pressure on cars sitting at port.
For those that are directly affected….car sitting at port or in transit by ship, check with your SA on revised delivery date. TYD is blank for most of us on final delivery to dealer, but SA in my case had a 4/12 date for ours sitting at Benicia Port. Best info I think we are going to get until folks start reporting here that cars have had the swap and are starting to go to dealers and being delivered to customers.
Is this only affecting US cars?
Did I just get really lucky?
I'm on schedule to have my car go from freeze date to delivery in less than 4 months.
Big difference to the last car I ordered which took 8.5 months just last year.
My car is being delivered in Mexico.

It only took 45 days from change freeze to build complete for me, but my car is now sitting at the German port.
I’ve noticed, the factory seems to be very efficient manufacturing the cars. I think the delays happen post production.
Hopefully they built your car with the correct chip (that is allowed into your country), so they will ship your car quickly.

Congrats on that short period!
I may just beat you as my order was submitted to Porsche January 16th, lock date was January 24th and is showing delivery here in Canada April 11th...
