My GT3 RS arrives in 2 weeks at port, was told it’ll stay there until Mid April for the chip install.

I have a 3RS at the JAX Port now. My dealer sent me a text today stating it will be mid April as well. 4/12 to be exact. So ready to drive this car !!! 😂

Wow...until mid April outside just sitting? Depending on when it manufacturing was complete, I'm thinking Porsche and the dealerships better be looking at certain fluid flushes. A few weeks, sure no bigger, a month or so you start thinking long term storage. But 4+ months, yeah not sure I'm okay with just taking delivery,

The only thing that changes overnight is political policy.

That said, it is possible that installed chips have been found to be defective, so they do not meet current requirements. This could happen due to a supplier change or due to quality control issues with the supplier. (However, wouldn’t cars being shipped to other regions also have the defective chips? Why are only US bound cars affected?)
Your second point is the answer to your last question. Chips were mfg’d in a country which the US has placed a trade embargo, therefore the cars cannot leave the port of entry, unless they go back to port of departure.

Hoping whatever is going on is attended soon and before they build my Targa. Sounds awful for those waiting.

On the Cayenne forum:

"2/1/2024 UPDATE: We recently informed you of a delay in delivering certain Porsche vehicles from ports due to a customs issue. We have been working diligently to address this, but it has now become apparent that this process will take some time to resolve, and we are consequently updating the delivery dates on certain cars currently either at ports, or due to arrive shortly. This delay does not affect either the 718 or Macan, deliveries of which continue as normal.

At issue is a small electronic component that is a part of a larger control unit, which will be replaced. Arrangements for replacement parts are being made to begin this work as soon as possible. We are working as a priority to resolve this issue and to provide you and our customers with more regular updates. In the meantime - and out of caution - we are revising the estimated delivery dates to reflect the likely delay more accurately. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work together to support our customers."

This is more detailed than what Aperture776 posted and the claim that it affected all non-4cyl vehicles.

How do we anticipate this will affect cars being manufactured over the next month? Will the delays in delivery of completed cars sitting at the port, also delay cars that are scheduled for production? Thoughts?

Great question - FIFO or will they cherry pick? Must be many of thousands of cars that will be backed up, especially if it also impacts Audi.

My car (992 GTS) finished production, V300 on 12/14. It’s been sitting at Kornwestheim Processing Facility since, although I first suspected that was due to some part still being needed. I suspect it’s now caught up in shipping issues - both frequency of ships, backlog and the customs issue. FWIW my delivery is now 4/29/24 (originally 11/15/23), and I have little confidence the 4/29 date won’t slip. I’ll be lucky to have the car by June.

I feel your pain.

My base 992 is sitting at Emden (since 1/29) - I was scheduled for delivery Perimeter Porsche Atlanta 3/2/24.

Siem Confucius is scheduled to leave Emden 2/7 arriving at Jacksonville 2/24 hopefully with my car on board - could be a long wait

Oh man this is not good for any of us especially those of us that just ordered!

I'm sure Porsche are working on this diligently because they would be getting backed up very quickly and paying port holding fees will rack up as well.

My order locked on 1/29/24, should start manufacturing 2/26 and delivery scheduled for 4/8. Delivery date shown actually moved up from 4/10.

Hoping no changes coming up, but wouldn't be surprised if they do (but would be disappointed!)

Be real interesting to see if your car get delivered on time - that might mean that they've corrected the issue and they're back on schedule. In any case, it sure does suck for those cars held up at the port and just sitting there waiting for the new chips".

And I too feel PhilH930's pain. A 5 month delay on delivery - terrible

Damn - if there is a big delay...that stinks! I was getting excited for delivery here next month. My tracking won't give me an ETA anymore so maybe I am affected. My targa got to Eden a few days ago - so we will see!
