Chicagoland is pretty awful for buying upscale cars in general.

I'm active on a Ford Bronco forum web site (because I have one ordered). They actually have union workers anonymously sharing inside info and even pics of the factory building these vehicles. The dynamics are quite interesting. Obviously they would get fired if caught. I'm grateful that some Porsche dealerships chose to participate here on RL although few do. It's a minefield for them. I think the PAG/PCNA folks are highly disciplined and professional. They wont out themselves but they are definitely here as passive participants.

They are here big time. So is PCNA, all the auto reviewers, the engineers who designed and built the cars, AP and probably the PCNA CEO. They also may be commenting too......just under an unobtrusive username.

Well if PCNA is reading Rennlist then : PLEASE BUILD A GT3 Targa!! The ultimate weekend, fun car. And don't make it unobtanium like the R.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but as someone trying to buy a first Porsche, I find their business model really fascinating:
1. I really respect a good reverse sales process, and they've got one. Reverse sales, for those who haven't heard the term, is used to sell high commitment, high price products by making them hard to get. When someone gets "offered" the product, they are so happy that they don't quibble on price. College is a classic example (by the time you get in to Harvard, you don't want to quibble on price).

Ticket scalpers are a far more accurate analogy for what dealers are doing.

I mean really. How many of us actually test drive a GT3 before we buy it? Zero. None of us need to talk to a dealership to figure out what options we need to tick. What is the dealership's real purpose in a GT3 sale? To provide a human to sign documents? Hello docusign. Welcome to the 21st century. Let me just buy a car from PAG. Avoid the ADMs altogether.

Like this piece (probably already posted). it's almost as if you're reading RL:

I'm pretty much giving up on the 992 GT. And the speculation pushes the 991 GT prices up, which is a shame as it's a prime track capable car that you can drive to HPDE.
