These are my opinions, I know the age range for these cars is anywhere between 25-70+ years old, so there will be differences in design preference, but it just seems like there are just way too many cars out there for sale that are very poorly optioned. Another reason that we don't likely see a freefall in prices across the board is that there have just been too many allocations that have been burned on very bad builds, and people will continue to pay a premium for a good build. It really is kinda sad to see it, maybe all of the good cars never went for sale, but over the past 2 years we have seen so many poorly built 992 GT3s. I feel like most people have no idea what they are doing when they build a car and just check boxes without really thinking it through. Porsche has allowed for increasingly more customization, and I think it may have backfired on the GT3 for those who waited to buy a car and have no option other than second hand.
-A lot of people think they need to get some stitching to contrast a specific color when I personally dont think it is necessary, the red stitching really cheapens many of the interiors (you see this option on Hondas and Toyotas) even if it is black interior with a lighter exterior color. I don't think red stitching goes with anything, some of the lighter stitching goes well with darker interiors. You do not need red/green/yellow seat belts on a car, ever. I am not sure why so many people are obsessed with the Superman theme when building a car.
-Black wheels are almost always a bad idea, even with a light colored car, black wheels will disappear and you can't see any of the detail.
-Some cars do not have FAL, not the end of the world though.
-Then you have the people who were given an option to get PTS and then decide to get crazy with the interior colors and have it clash like the latest BAT sale.
-Many cars will have a different shade of blue, and then they opt for the shark blue accents so they will clash majorly. Gentian blue with shark blue accents should not even be allowed.
-Many cars are optioned w a stripe color that does not go with the car.
These are my opinions, I know the age range for these cars is anywhere between 25-70+ years old, so there will be differences in design preference, but it just seems like there are just way too many cars out there for sale that are very poorly optioned. It may be these people are first time flippers, and just didn't know what they were doing. The below car sold today as a 2023 model Touring with Manual for only $24K over MSRP, for a PTS touring Manual this could have been built much better, just another wasted allocation.

hello, does anyone have a recommendation for a pre purchase inspection company in the san diego area? Its a 944 that im wanting to have someone inspect for me.
I don't think there's any way that because 1-3% of builds are "bad" that values are staying high but that's an interesting theory to believe in
I don't know what percentage of builds are bad, but in the Spyder market for example, "desirable" builds move on the market very quickly (<2 weeks), but "undesirable builds" will sit for 3+ months. I think it's fair to observe that there is still more demand than there is supply due to some meaningful percentage of builds in the supply pipe being undesirable. The earlier comment about superman builds really resonates - you see many cars where the car was specced with clashing colors, which leads to a car that just sits. I suspect that if only 1-3% of total builds are "bad" - something like 25%-50% of the builds that show up for sale are those "bad" builds.
So is this track-oriented build for a 992 turbo undesirable? It's certainly unique. If I can get an allocation to build this, I'd consider trading my 992 TTS and GT3 for it.

I think reasonable people can debate what is desirable until the cows come home, but one thing that makes a car undesirable for sure is a clashing color scheme Don't see that here!
My personal experience with ADM. I’ve been looking for a 992 GT3 for almost two years. They’d been trading for around $275k for the period of time I spent looking. I bit the bullet and purchased a pre owned 992 GT3 for about 28k over MSRP. I’ve accepted that MSRP will either never happen or the time it will take to get there is not worth the frustration of looking any longer.

If you care about resale, a turbo with Buckets is a good way to guarantee your worst case scenario re resale lol. If you don't care then rock out! TBH non S turbo's are pretty low on people's want list unfortunately already so just keep in mind!
