To show I'm wrong: let's hear from all the people in this thread who've been regularly tracking their 992 GT3 or at least putting 5K road miles a year on the car.
I don't have a GT3 but am considering one. The problem with your question is that a lot of people who buy expensive cars have a lot of cars, so driving 5k miles a year in each doesn't really make sense. If you have 6-10 cars, it is hard to put 5k on each even if you are retired or unemployed. I drive my cars as much as I want, and in total I probably only drive 15-20k miles a year. So someone with 10 cars might only average 2k miles a year on each, and probably a lot less on some of them. They become garage queens not because the owner is afraid to drive them, but because the owner has far more cars than a typical person.

edit/p.s.: if I buy a GT3, i would probably drive it 2k miles a year or less. Not because I would be trying to preserve it, but because every time I drove it it would mean that I am not driving something else that I like as much or more.

Admittedly, that's all true in my case (though I did rack up 42K miles so far on my GT3, with many of those miles being track miles).

So I guess my question is posed to those don't simultaneously have a lot of cars.

An interesting variation on your question is what the distribution of miles across cars looks like. If you only have a civic and a GT3, do they each have 10k miles, or does the civic have 15k and the GT3 5k? If you have 10 cars, does the SUV have 10k a year and the GT3RS 2k? Or do they all have about the same? I think your point might be that people are driving their SUV or sedan 10k a year and only driving the GT3 1k. Don't want speak for you, but that seems like a more fair question.

For me, my highest is an M8GC where I do about 5k, and 75% of that is with 3 or more people in the car. The lowest is a 993TTS at under 1k. 4 other are probably about 2-3k each. I just don't drive 30k miles a year.

I have a cayenne turbo S as a daily. My other cars are toys. Nothing other than the Cayenne gets more than 2K a year. I have been driving the GT3 more than the others. It’s an everyday if you want it to be.

This is first 5 months. Averaging 7-8k per year on GT cars last 4 years. All the while putting 20k+ on my daily drivers. 24k on my rsq8 in 13 months and now on pace for 20k TRX. I enjoy the road

@Manifold The real question is why do you care how others - strangers no less - use their material possessions? I feel like this (along with the anti-ADM crusade) is just virtue signalling. You’re not asking out of innocent curiosity or digging into the lifestyle of a responder. Your intent is to shame them into thinking they’re less worthy of owning a GT3 than you are.

I’m happy for the guys who have one and are driving it. Those are feel good stories.

As for those who have one and don’t really drive it, I’m not hiding my view.

50k a year in a lot unless you have a commute in which case it makes a lot of sense. Still, only 15% of miles are on the gt3, which is probably pretty normal.

Rsq8 was my last daily. It’s more like 27-28k a year. Now factor in the gt3 isn’t driven during the winter (at least 4 months) it’s closer to 40%. My commute is 10 miles total to and from work.

if it weren’t for the salty months GT3 would be over 10k a year

Man, you drive almost as much as I do. Between my daily and business car I rack up 40k+ miles then another 10k+ on my GT cars.

On Monday, I took my GT3 for a 50 mile drive down to my PPF shop at 5 am for my appointment..
It feels so much more "planted" and compliant than my GT4 that the car is just on an entirely different level.
And that was running tire pressures of 31/35 on my Pirelli's, which I'll wind up lowering.
The "turn-in" is simply amazing. Just a phenomenal car!

Does letting the GM sleep with your wife really work to get a MSRP 911 GT3 Touring? Has anyone had the dealer through in a car cover too? I knew there was a secret way that explains all these guys getting MSRP deals on the cars they want. I thought that box of See’s chocolates at Xmas would work- silly me. So the trick is to have your wife deliver the box of chocolates in an appropriate outfit. Even if she runs off with the GM that should give you an in for all the new electric models coming out for years to come. Which is harder - finding a new wife or getting an allocation - at MSRP— for a new electric 718 GT4 or the hybrid GT3 Touring? I think we all on this list know the answer to that question.

All GT cars sold by my dealer are at MSRP, but they go to the VIPs and repeat customers. Since I recently bought a car (991.2 C4S cab) from my dealer, and five Porsches from this dealer years ago, I'm at the top of the list to get the next GT3 allocation, but that may not come for 1-2 years and I guess it may be 992.2. Meanwhile, I'll probably get a 991 or 992 TT or TTS.

If you are still "On the list" you probably are not going to get an allocation at MSRP. Oh well.
