Now that I think about it, isn't it hard to dyno a 991 to get accurate numbers? Don't either the front wheels need to be moving or you need to pull some fuses or change some kinda settings to get a real number, otherwise it reads really low. Auto Amateur video they were getting like 200whp from his car until they figured out how to make it show the real numbers.

Same for this dyno chart... look at the notes... they had to pull a PSM fuse to get accurate numbers

To dyno a 991.1 you have to go into the ECU and put it in dyno mode. 4 wheels don't have to be moving but it does need a high end Autel or PIWIZ2. 997 would just do it automatically. Without going into dyno mode the car essentially goes into limp mode.

Garfunkle - nice pick up. Amended my comment to reflect a flat six rather than a V6. Or is it a "straight six," as it was called by that guest host who introduced the 992 Carrera a couple years ago at PEC LA? Hee, hee, hee.

My last Oil Change at the Porsche dealer was $289.40 and while not inexpensive not outrageous in my mind. I am sure that you would feel that way about almost any business or service if you look a them closely as all businesses are all about maximizing profitability. We just are extra emotional about our cars (myself included). There is also a benefit going to a dealership by having a factory trained technician look over your car and find things during oil change that a DYI guy or less trained technician might miss. Also service bulletin items like the heatshield one that are not actual recalls will be taken care of (at no charge).

I wonder if that could be related? Is it 'fair' or legal to require a general emissions inspection shop to need to have a specialized Porsche computer to be able to get accurate emissions numbers?

Just spitballing until we find out what the heck is going on...

I would get my oil changed at the dealer for <300$ as well but it's not like that in 90% of the country. An hour of labor plus reasonable material is very fair. My dealer also wants 90$ from parts for a filter and o ring when it's 30$ everywhere else in the universe that has a website.

When my car was CPO and I used them, I brought a bottle of scotch for my SA for Christmas and a bottle of Champagne for his Birthday. They have a thankless job but the only thing I wanted in return is for them to know I was appreciative and cared in hopes that they were happier working on my car which I thought would result in more detail oriented work. I'm saying this because I know a lot of people are A holes and get responded to accordingly. Mine was more the result of the dealership group and people just not caring.

Kind of like Ford changing the entire brake assembly to beat Ferrari at Lemans. Or F1 rules..... It's fair and legal until it's not more than likely haha.

This made me look up the cost of my last oil change service at the local dealer and I am in a suburb of Chicago. It was $295.04

Interesting to see what will happen here. I got a $500 check from Porsche because the fuel efficiency was slightly off on the window sticker of my 2019 GT3T

ABS light came on my 997, took it to the dealer and they said "You need a new passenger seat because you have a short inside. That will be $4k for a new seat" It was a $30 front bumper sensor.

I never take my cars to a dealer, they run them by using an archaic business model.

I'll take my check and a Porsche design watch, thanks.

I just got back from the dealer and the salesman knew exactly about the "stop sale". He said it is a seatbelt issue for the passenger side belt. It shows up under "emissions and safety" issues. I don't know if this is correct or not

Default Emissions Investigation

So it seems that my car (2014 Cayman S with Sport Chrono) will be affected. Looks like all the cars targeted are with Sport Chrono/Sport Plus. My concern is that if a software fix takes the power down and or eliminates Sport Plus, that is not what I signed up for a month ago - the main reason I bought the car I did is because it had Sport Plus!! I am curious as to what others think and what they will do, if they actually "detune" our cars? Thanks

That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Like the passenger-side seat belts are different in a Sports-Chrono equipped car versus a non-Sports-Chrono equipped car?

He is either a moron or is giving you a bunch of BS considering the reason behind this is public knowledge in the attached lawsuit
