maybe. My worry now is that since the black corduroy like striped cloth is unique to Touring Package and is supposed to be a direct reference to the 73 RS 2.7 Touring, NOT having the original seats would somehow devalue the car in the future. That is, people might actually consider the black cloth seats collectible/special and the $8700 it would cost to customize the seats different would not only be lost on eventual resale, but could backfire.
Perhaps the thing to do then with the Touring would be to get it with the standard seats and to aftermarket for different seat inserts to enjoy while I own and drive the car and preserve the originals for resale? Only then, you are stuck with the standard black leather bolsters and stitching.
On the latter though, there are other factory interior stitching options to dress it up a bit. For one, deviated stitching in red is still a $1500 option in the configurator with the Touring Package, so black stitching isn't required. Also, you can still also do in the configurator the Decorative Stitching in Deviated Thread for $3500 which allows you to select from a rainbow of other deviated stitching colors besides red, among them racing yellow, acid green, and..... wait for it.... Chalk.

Also today my Porsche Exclusive rep replied to my email question saying "As of right now I see no reason the CXX options would conflict."
So it would appear that, except for PTS and some Alcantara options in the configurator, at least anything you'd want to do by CXX is still possible with Touring Package.

While $8700 for seats is insane, if there's a car to do tailored seats on, I think the touring is it. It has black stitching, black dash trim, and no alcantara so much less for the seats to clash with. I think chalk exterior with medium dark brown leather seats could look really classy. Maybe this is the next best alternative to PTS. Would cost about the same as PTS too. Hmm...

The $8700 simply includes whatever you want to do with the materials on the seats (LWBs or 18-ways required), as in the leather color for bolsters and headrests, the material and colors of the seats' center inserts, the color of stitching (or piping if you prefer) on the seats only, and the embossed / embroidered logo on seat headrests. That's it.

It was also explained to me that the $8700 does NOT inlude custom tailoring the rear shell of the 18-ways. That is, there's an option in the configurator in combination with the 18-ways to have the rear shells in leather with deviated stitching to match the leather and stitching in the rear of the car. When you get CXX, you can still get that option if you want. But if you want the leather covers on the rear shells to match what you do to the fronts of the seats with the $8700 cXx option, you have to have the rear shells of the 18-ways custom tailored too, which costs more than the option in the configurator. i cant remember the exact figure but was under $3,000 so not that much more than the option in the configurator.
Now, if you custom tailored the 18-way seats and don't change the color of leather or stitching from what they would have been otherwise (for example, if you just have them change the inserts and embossed stuff ok headrests), then you could use the cheaper option in the configurator to have the rear shells of the 18-ways in leather, since it would match anyways. But then, why spend $8700 just to have the center inserts and embossed logo on headrests changed from standard?

you should still go to ATL and visit PEC. It's a nice experience and they have an Exclusive Lounge there where you can meet with a custom design specialist for a complimentary consultation. They can show you real life samples of the materials and they have a large screen on the wall connected to their laptops with a higher quality internal version of the configurator they use to show what the stuff looks like virtually too.
Also so great real cars on display in the main lobby area including a few with some nice CXX options, tour the museum, and have lunch at Cafe 356 and watch people on the track outside.

Was there a few times last year...did a GT3 day, then went back for the GT4...and knocked on doors to get a 911R allocation. Ran into a cleaning lady that told me the Touring was coming.

I'm starting to come back around to the touring. Please, anyone, photoshop this in stripes and any other colour like white/crayon/silver. I think this would look so much better once the blue is gone.

^yes. The more I look at it, the more I'm convinced that the chrome touring trim is the way to go and not just with dark colors. It's a very tasteful modern rendition of the retro classic 70's 911 and Singer look. I think it will age better than even the R.
