GT3 Dealer Allocation Thread

fabe32, while I think you got the volume boning plan (especially on a Cayenne Diesel at close to MSRP...) it's your money and you shouldn't care what anyone else thinks. You simply paid $55k for the right to drive a GT car for about 3 years and then get the opportunity to pay sticker for your dream car. And when you factor in the value of driving the cars in the interim, the premium on the RS won't be all that much at the end of the day.

Well, houses don't appreciate in value, land does. And so do some GT cars. Second, the limited supply issue certain applies here, as does the high demand and low finance rates. Basically everything you listed above applies to the GT3 discussion, though you left out the wealth effect caused by our bubble equity market.

Do you know the rough weight difference between lwb and the 18 way sofas? And from a personal comfort perspective I prefer the sofas, but not to a point where it will prove significantly more difficult to sell the car years later if I want to move on to a more expensive rs car

After a couple of years of deciding what Porsche to buy and dealer I would want to team up with, I decided to give my business to Porsche of Fremont, CA (Fletcher Jones).
So, new to the Porsche GT thing, I had a long discussion with my sales guy. I needed a family car and was dreaming of a 991 GT3. It was October 2015.
We settled on the following plan:
-Cayenne Diesel (leased in Nov 2015)...a little bit under MSRP...whatever
-GT4 bought in Nov 2015 at 25K above sticker with a plan to buy a GT3 991 2016 on March 2016 at 25k above sticker
....WITH A PLAN TO GET AN ALLOCATION AT MSRP FOR MY DREAM 991.2 GT3RS....2-3-4 years later when she was to be released.
I sold the GT4 back to my dealer (at MSRP), as planned in March 2016 and got my 2016 GT3.
In short:
-Leased a Cayenne diesel at pretty much MSRP
-Bought a GT4 at 25k above sticker
-Sold the GT4 to the same dealer at sticker
-Bought a GT3 991.1 2016 at 25k above sticker
I Was promised by David, General Sales Manager at Fremont my next 991.2 GT3RS at sticker.
Being in CA, I am OK to pay...a bit more than elsewhere to play...
Now that the GT3 RS 991.2 is cooking, I will engage the discussion with my dealer and will keep you posted on the what "they said".
I have no doubt David will do what he promised. So far, I have been very happy with them. Sales has been great, Gunther and tech great.
I understand the cost of doing business in CA.
More to come...going there to touch base on the GT3RS.2 very soon.

To the California poster who did the cayenne thru .2RS deal - I do something similar in that I buy many non GT cars and don't negotiate. I am "given" some money off or decent free stuff sometimes on the non GT cars but I don't do near as well as I could negotiating. However my time no spent hunting for a GT car at msrp is more valuable to me.
My way (and to each his own) has netted me every current generation GT car (not R) at msrp. This round my dealer is charging over as they watched most of their .1 GT3s get flipped. However they evaluate their regular customers (especially locals but not required) who want the new GT3 and then determine if they get the car at msrp. They have a process and while I don't know how the evaluation exactly works I know it is focused on treating dealership VIPs correctly.
I don't know who is getting what and at what for the GT3 but I'm getting a manual GT3 I can configure at msrp. I also, if possible, will get PTS. I haven't done a V70 and have not even really looked at the configurator. When a manual allocation comes it's mine. Yes they have pdk allocations now and are working down their list.
This is a porsche forum and GT sub forum so I think we all get a little consumed (but I get it and this is the place for that). however we all have our own spending power and limits and wants and will conduct ourselves accordingly.
I wish everyone the best in the latest hunt.

Down the road I see 3 possible types of owners.
Track rats that find the 991gt3 is at a reasonable price point to track and mod. "Will most likely buy a better track seat"
18 ways or LWB
Those that DD them and don't have to take the initial depreciation cost!
18ways
Weekend cruisers occasional track days.
LWB

I've purchased three new Porsches at a collective $36,000 under MSRP. Even my Spyder was slightly under sticker. Karma would say that I should probably be able stomach a small give back this time. But not $50k.

Dealer stories and promises are just that UNTIL the paperwork for a specific car is signed.
Sales guys and GM's flip around jobs too. What's supposedly true today might not be tomorrow. Your "guy" might not be there next week. All thrown out the window then.
It's happened plenty of times.

I apologize to you for these people.
I commend you for your positivity in reply after such harsh comments.
I would take this chance to really build a relation with the GSM and GM of Porsche Fremont. You already have one foot in, and don't let those overage you paid go to waste. Visit them, and recommend friends to buy cars there.
Buy a 991.2 GT3 while you're at it. Ask them if they can sell you one for MSRP while you're waiting for the RS, the key is continuous engagement. Tell them you don't mind waiting and you would like a PTS allocation if possible. Trade in your GT3 for a 991.2 manual GT3 with just LWB seats, or build a cheap PTS car (good color), you won't spend a penny over the year before you get your RS.
Good luck, and I can give you more personal suggestions into the dealer systems Trust me, you don't want to be calling a dozen dealers every time before a new model comes out and cross your fingers and just hope one would come to fruition, and then deal with the BS of denial and extreme overage. Take this chance to be set for yourself for future cars.

What you described is pretty much my vision. I will gladly share with the RL community the future of my Fremont experience.
