20,000 HARD miles on my 570s track pack, and 1,500 miles so far on my 765LT. Cars have been totally bulletproof. I do not live near a Mclaren dealer (live in Albuquerque, NM) and it does not scare me one bit. I have nothing but totally positive things to say in terms of reliability, service, and build quality. My 2020 Raptor has more issues come up on it than the 570 or 765 lol. The problem is when you go on the forums, you tend to hear about the 1% of people that have major issues with their cars. The other 99% of owners not on the forums are completely happy and do not have issues whatsoever. I will stand by Mclaren and say nothing but positive things about the reliability and build quality of their cars from my personal experience. Here is the 570 and 765 next to each other, Mclaren Orange on the 570 and Tokyo Cyan on the 765LT. If you haven't seen Tokyo Cyan in person its probably the most beautiful color on a car ive ever seen. Pictures can't capture the color whatsoever especially my iPhone, makes it look like smurf blue which it not like that at all in person. Second photo done by a photographer captures the color a little better than my iPhone can haha.
You do have some beautiful cars and well tracked~!!! Your relationship with McLaren cant be compared though to the average folks buying their first...
Yes, I have owned many mclarens (next one will be my 12th).
My dealer says they service over 700 mclaren cars in northern califoirnia (this was the number 1.5 years ago).
they have 75 owners who have owned 3+ mclaren cars (this is the proof of how people on the ground that own the cars feel about things). Mclaren really got going with volume sales in 2017-2018 with 570s. Most owners can be tied from 2017 until today.
Sample of guys that I track with quite often in my area and the cars that they used to or currently track and the progression of the cars they have owned:
430 - 12c, 650s, 720s, 620r
12c, 650s, .1 gt3rs, .2gt3rs, 600 lt, 720s (he holds the gt3rs and 720s production lap record at lagun seca)
Not many Macs at the events I attend on the east coast. I do plan to track my 675 but do have to figure out the brake situation - as you say above, from the little information I can find the giro/cobalt seems to be a common switch but do you know anyone either running the AP brakes (use this set up on my RS) or using the brembo rotors from GM (corvette uses the same rotor)?
re the track pre/post inspections, yes that is not difficult and I do this myself for the RS but the question is if Mac will honor the warranty if not bought to an authorized dealer for these inspections, from my experience Porsche honor warranty claims arising from track use.
A bit of a difference in my area that makes mclarens a bit more visible is that we don't have country club/private type tracks, its cost prohibitive to rent out the tracks for a few people at a time. Everything is pretty much done in an HPDE environment, which makes the cars very visible vs., other parts of the country.
675 is a bit different in that people are using the brembo rotors from GM. This can't be done on 600 lt/720s/765, etc. (I guess it could if one was able to source 675 hats).
720s was really the first one that in my opinion required cheaper option and a MUST change to aftermrket rotors/pads for fiscal sanity purposes (600 lt, 620r is the same as 720s in terms of how fast the OEM pads/rotors will go out)
I do know a few with ap/essex racing kit on 720s. its more expensive (kit has calipers which allows many more pads to be used on the car). The best part of the ap/essex kit is that it is transferable with many of the mclarens which is a big, big plus(not all).
Track inspections - a few have mentioned in this thread. As long as someone is completing a similar tech sheet then you will be covered (a big plus of bringing your car in is to have it updated with software, any campaigns, etc.). If something goes wrong with your car because of low oil, pads , tires, brakes that wasn't checked by anyone and it spills over to other parts of the car and warranty then you can obviously have warranty issues).
The only thing I've seen is the cat's go out with heavy, heavy tracking and replaced under warranty (I haven't seen this in 675 or cars built before this). This would never get caught ahead of time in a track inspection. (I know someone who beats on his car and had 15 track days (he does every session, gets on at the beginning of the session and completes the entire session) and had his cat's go out. He is a D.I.Y.; he had about 12K miles on the car at that point (combined track/street use). The dealer did try to give him a hard time about it since he never did any track inspection. They did cover it under warranty after giving him a hard time (this isn't something that would have been caught by any track inspection).

many thanks for your reply, I learn a lot from fellow RS owners at the track but don't see Macs that often to pick up advice from knowledgeable enthusiasts such as yourself.
Decided to put my money where my mouth is. Sold the GT and jumped into a pre-owned 600LT “segestria borealis” which is an MSO special edition to mark the end of production. The paint is pretty bonkers…jet black at some angles and purple to green at others. With perfect overhead lighting you can see them all at once.
Without going into specifics, there was only a $75k delta on what the dealer bought my GT3 (pdk, steelies, GT silver, nothing crazy) and this car which I think speaks volumes around the value/market of GT cars vs McLarens right now.
Haven’t put a ton of time behind the wheel yet but hoping to change that in the next 24 hours.

Love seeing all the McLaren love here. Honestly, I don't look at the 7.2 GT3 RS the same anymore. I haven't wanted to grab it's keys for a months now after insuring CGT with 765LT coupe.

When I did my spec a few weeks ago they also have a Tokyo Cyan Pearl/metallic now which is not yet listed. You may want to ask for a sample to compare both.

Thanks! I'll ask the dealer, but even with sample - I can't tell on actual car. Will be tough to lock-in. Even TC in pics and videos is difficult to tell(?!).

If you haven’t seen Tokyo Cyan in person I suggest you do. On pics and in person was very different for me. It was on my list, but I passed. I think the metallic/Pearl would make it better for me.
colors are truly personal.
I am going with a special color that I am sure many wouldn’t think of it for a Mclaren, but I really wanted something different.

Love this car - great choice! I have tempted myself with moving on from my GTS and going 600LT. Have a tab saved on car gurus to check out availability each week. I have not gotten beyond looking due to no local dealer.
