Decided to put my money where my mouth is. Sold the GT and jumped into a pre-owned 600LT “segestria borealis” which is an MSO special edition to mark the end of production. The paint is pretty bonkers…jet black at some angles and purple to green at others. With perfect overhead lighting you can see them all at once.
Without going into specifics, there was only a $75k delta on what the dealer bought my GT3 (pdk, steelies, GT silver, nothing crazy) and this car which I think speaks volumes around the value/market of GT cars vs McLarens right now.
Haven’t put a ton of time behind the wheel yet but hoping to change that in the next 24 hours.[/QUOTE
Love this car - great choice! I have tempted myself with moving on from my GTS and going 600LT. Have a tab saved on car gurus to check out availability each week. I have not gotten beyond looking due to no local dealer.
Enjoy that ride!
Beautiful! There’s a white one at Boston Mclaren asking 238k with 4K miles. That’s not that much more then the current asking prices on .2 wing cars and cheaper then most .2 RS.
With how ridiculous things are in the GT car world, starting to look at this world and it seems so much more value and quite eye opening.
Got a few hours of hard canyon driving in. Car is a dream. Hate to say it but I don’t miss the GT3 one bit (although I won’t deny the GT3 sounded a smidge better, especially with my header + bypass setup). A few more pics to show the crazy paint dynamics.
Seriously considering adding a 600lt to the fleet. Anything to look out for during a PPI? The few local MAC owners I have chatted with, stressed heavily about making sure the car has a warranty. Thoughts?

Pretty much all 600 LT's should still be under the original 3 year factory warranty. Buying from a mclaren dealer is the ideal thing.
If buying elsewhere then you want to verify that the warranty hasn't been voided or marked in mclaren system as having been modified and a closer look needs to happen to the car. This can also be flushed out if you do a PPI with a mclaren dealer (this may not be possible if the seller doesn't want to release the car to you or you are not near a mclaren dealer). I'd say that this is important. You don't want one of those P.O.S. cars that were heavily modified and had the warranty voided in the system.

I did verify that the car does still carry the factory warranty. Also has more miles then most (10k), which I consider a good thing.

I would take a serious look at Spyders if you haven't already considered them. I would argue the 600LT makes one of the best topless options given the lack of compromise (carbon tub doesn't require reinforcements i.e. weight additions, so you really just gain the weight of the roof unit itself at 100lbs it's not terrible) and the exhaust behind your head with the roof down is next level. Heck, having the rear-window you can lower is worth it alone!

It's really that rear window and exhaust sound which makes it all worth it... even more than the open top experience IMO. if only that lowering rear window were part of the coupe design then few would order the spyder IMO.

i would agree with all the comments above. I just sold my 720s which was an amazing car but I found myself going for the keys of the 600lt much more often. It’s just a more engaging and fun car to drive, even at legal speeds. Especially in spider form. I’m historically not a convertible guy but I found I loved driving with the top down. I think the car and lines look great both with the top up and down and the sound is insane.
Well, definitely a shady dealership to begin with but I wont go there. I hired a company that specializes in PPI's to go and check out the car for me. Basically the whole underside of the car was beat to hell and parts of it were being held on by zip ties. I understand that the underside will take some abuse but this was way beyond normal wear and tear. As for the rest of the car, interior fine, engine, no clue as they would not let the company drive it or take him for a ride. Fishy stuff.
