For comparison, I was hitting about 150mph on the front straight in the RS and over 160mph with the 600LT. I think both are capable of more with a better driver, but that at least gives your a comparison of the same driver with both cars.

I love my RS, but the 600LT feels much faster and more fun to drive on track. The only thing the RS has over the 600LT is that it sounds absolutely amazing with the Dundon headers, intake, and loud muffler I have on it.
Not really a fair comparison though, is it? One is turbo vs NA and makes almost 20% more HP. Better to get out with a GT2 RS for that comp.

I agree not a fair comparison, but he asked what people thought about a 600LT on track. Just giving a relative data point.

And that wasn't meant to say anything negative about the GT3RS. I absolutely love that car still.

This information is very helpful for the future, I would keep my RS for some fun but perhaps the 600LT would be the car that keeps up some serious machinery at the track. The straight line advantage certainly helps at certain track when running with Cup Cars all the time.

I too love my RS as about to try some headers, but the steering feel and lack of front end when pushing at the limit is a big issue for me. Track focused race cars have been considered but the running costs are insane for just DE's twice a month, the LT might be a good stop gap for a while if the running costs are comparable with the RS.

I have a 765LT Spider on order and will be able to compare directly with the 600LT hopefully next year.
Which one is more fun to drive on the street?

Very nice. I assume the 600lt has a tune and downpipes to get that power? Any reliability issues? That 765lt is going to be a weapon on track (especially the larger tracks).

Any McLaren is more fun to drive on the street than an RS. An RS is a very compromised street car. If an RS is not being used for track duty McLaren is a much better street option

They both have their pluses, but I'd maybe give a slight edge to the 600LT. It makes loud rifle shot like cracks and throws flames on downshifts. But overall, the RS sounds better with the Dundon system on it. It just absolutely screams. I don't plan to give up either one, they are both that good.

Yes, it is tuned and has downpipes. No reliability issues so far. I know Mac is stingy about the warranty, but I accept the responsibility if something happens. I plan to keep the 765LT Spider stock.

I disagree.

On the street, the turbo lag in the McLarens really reveal their ugly side. On track, where the revs are kept high, they're sort of swept under the rug.

A 3RS feels much easier to handle in a predictable manner than a McLaren. For street driving.

Crazy small world. I was on track in my GT3 behind this guy when he wrecked this car at AMP. I recall it was in 2018

765 for track use is too pricey and overkill for some of track junkies, I think i would go to a dedicated race car if that were the case.

600LT sounds about right for track duties as it has the power to keep up with the 2RS's and other race cars that run at my track. Although ive never seen a Mclaren run regularly as i guess most the owners prefer Cars and Coffee.

Kudos to the Mac drivers who track them, i will look closer at a LT in the coming months for track use and see what I can throw at it to maximize things without voiding a warranty

Really? Where are you located? In the SF Bay Area our local tracks (Laguna, Sonoma, Thunder Hill) are dominated by McLaren entries, huge participation. I think the same is true in SoCal.

Huh. Took me about an hour of driving to figure out how to minimize turbo lag on the street. Non issue. Having owned a number of both marques I have to say IMO the McLaren is by far the more fun street car.

Yeah, I was scratching my head at that comment too. I’m pretty sensitive to turbo lag and HATE it, but have found it a non-issue on my 600LT.

I don't know if you own a McLaren but I could not disagree more with this statement. my 675LT is way better as a street car, I have not taken it to the track yet, the ride is way better and turbo lag is not an issue. the RS is fantastic car but for me its home is on the track.
