The lower drag and shorter gearing work for the 765 on the strip but against it on a road course, making it tricky at the limit. Still mighty fast of course, but tricky. Yet potentially more fun if you dream of being a rodeo star

I think the guy at Drag Times does a great job with his channel but he also makes me scratch my head a little bit. All his cars are powerful sports cars that, imo, are designed first for road courses. Yes they obviously work at drag racing too but it just seems a shame to own a collection like that and never/rarely fully experience the braking and cornering talents built into them. And if you want a road legal drag racer you can have a faster car for a lot less money.... as he demonstrated recently when a bolt on GT500 beat his 765LT in both et and trap speed in the quarter mile. It wouldn't beat the 765LT on a road course though!
A Senna may beat a 765lt on a road course but certainly wont "dominate" it........ I get the entire gt500 modded for less money just doing straight line speed but using the same logic I could bump 30k into a fox body and run low 9's.

The R888 that the 765 is on are basically street legal drag tires. That's what all those 2k+ hp UGR Lamborghinis use to run 250+ in the half mile.

Brooks did turn in a 9.3 on the OE PZeros.

Just watched Henry Catchpole describe the technology behind (inside) the new Artura. As much as I tried to understand his explanations I couldn't take my eyes off the Flux Green car. To me this is what the future looks like-a gorgeous hybrid supercar with incredible performance and fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. As much as I love the normally aspirated GT3s in my garage this car has immediately become aspirational.

The Artura brings hope! Of course, I’d like to see it being lighter but it’s pretty good for a first gen. I can imagine a few iterations later, there could be a ~3000lbs LT that’ll suck me right in (as much as I say I’m done once they all have electric motors).

I look at this the other way around. Cars like the GT3 are pinnacle cars, the best of an era. For what they offer (to me visceral experience), there will never be better. Cars like hybrids and EV, while they are hot now, granted like this gorgeous Artura, withing 6 months there will be the next hotter hybrid car with more power, more range and better batteries, rendering the old one outdated. In think tech will advance fast the coming years, and you will be quickly left hanging with a meh car. And the pinnacle cars, the last of an era cars, they will shine forever.

Correct me if I’m wrong but Arturo weight is less than a GT3. While we would all love for the cars to be lighter- I think Mclaren has done a pretty good job with the weight management. Carbon tub certainly helps.

Transaction complete (traded the 2019 in before taking delivery).

So far, 120 miles or so and I love the 720S!

I think it’s great that a guy named “forever car” gets rid of a car before even taking delivery!

On my way to a forever McLaren.

My incoming 765LT is meant to be a forever car. Of course, time has a way of changing perspectives. My intention is to keep the 765LT for as long as I get to enjoy it.

I thought I read the Arturo was 3300lbs, so wouldn't that be a tad heavier than a GT3?

Personally, I'm not crazy about the Arturo. It looks like just an incremental design change from the 570S/600LT to me. I'm also not crazy about the sound of the V6, although it's better than I though it would be. I would need to hear it in person to really say for sure though. Over all, I'm just not really feeling it.

As I said earlier from a zoom call with their new driver Daniel, he said the 765LT is the only road car that scares him. I had a 720S loaner for 5 days, and it’s insanely fast. The 720S feels like a Turbo S comfort wise, but bone jarring shifts ......the 675LT is noisy like a RS with go-cart steering/you can barely hear the radio it’s so noisy. MSRP the 675LT was 349k 765LT 299k of course base. I still say 675LT’s are the steal of the decade for what it does. You will have loads of fun .........two years almost no issues other than a shock replacement under warranty.
I want a 675LT but coming from a GT3 and AMG with 0 issues, I am a little scared.

My first introduction to a gt car was because of my 12c spider then 650s spider experience which made me DUMP the 650S for a 2014 GT3. That was early on when McLaren was relatively new. I swore against the brand then, but now I really like what they offer.

3303 to be exact.

While I think the Arturo is an interesting concept and design, I fear what it would be like to own a first-year model of a complicated hybrid car from McLaren. Not only does it have a new hybrid setup, but it has a new 8 speed gearbox, as well as a new suspension setup. And you can only go in reverse in pure EV mode. I shudder to think what gremlins lurk in this car.

I was the same, and when I started this thread I was not a fan but they were selling cars and they offered a change. The 675LT is one of the most reliable MAC’s, and when I talk to the techs they love the car. Has the same engine as the P1, and actually more titanium in the engine as it was reworked for performance. Think there’s less than 12 for sale in the US, and the good specs go fast. I had to get my emissions checked so I stopped by the MAC dealer to shoot the crap with some of the techs as the car didn’t pass? He took the car and drove it to get it up to temp, and said the P1 and 675LT needed to get the temps up for all the sensors to read, I was like ummmm Ok? He took the car and got the inspection without me asking while I waited in the show room, and said call me directly if you have any problems. I tell this story as I was just looking for a quick answer, and they took the car and said hang out here took and solved it. Could have been like we’re crazy busy, and he left by saying you have a bad *** car don’t sell it.

He was a Porsche tech, and 50% of them came from Porsche so I felt good about that. A good dealer is key as I have heard horrible stories, but I have zero intentions on selling my 675LT it’s that good to me.
