It really is just the most amazing car. Lots of cars feel fast in 1st and 2nd, the 720S is just as impressive through the taller gears. Remarkable, and just a bit terrifying.

Great eye. It’s Papaya Spark. Have you seen the color in person? I sort of bought this impulsively and haven’t seen the car in person.

Thanks! I’ll share my thoughts for sure. The car probably won’t be here for another week or two.

Thanks for the heads up. McLaren seems to have really strong “top end” acceleration. Since I’m in the PNW, I’m getting Michelin PS4S installed prior to delivery and hope that they help a bit in the lower temperature range.
I would certainly love to have a 765LT if I can find one available with specs I like. Sort of wish I wasn’t late to the party and ordered one. However, I think the 675LT and the 720S will be known as fantastic cars in the future. I can’t wait to experience the 720S. A local “enabler” raves about his too.![hiha](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/roflmao.gif)

The color is gorgeous the name is spot on with the word Spark because of the metallic color. All the 765LT are sold out at launch, and will be curious if they cap production? The 675LT’s were capped at 500/500 coup and spider. Will be going to a F1 event this year invite from Mclaren will be interesting to get their perspective. As I said earlier from a zoom call with their new driver Daniel, he said the 765LT is the only road car that scares him. I had a 720S loaner for 5 days, and it’s insanely fast. The 720S feels like a Turbo S comfort wise, but bone jarring shifts ......the 675LT is noisy like a RS with go-cart steering/you can barely hear the radio it’s so noisy. MSRP the 675LT was 349k 765LT 299k of course base. I still say 675LT’s are the steal of the decade for what it does. You will have loads of fun .........two years almost no issues other than a shock replacement under warranty.
Would love to hear what you find out at the F1 event. IIUC, 765LT coupe is done with 765 cars. I’d love to spec one if they up the number (or if anyone has a lead of a changeable build slot). As a peculiar coupe only person, I’m tempted to get a 765LT spider as time is moving on and ICE cars days are numbered.
The compliant ride and bone jarring shifts, I love that! The 720S might become an unplanned keeper.

I will say that the 765LT looks like a case of a little too edgy thus hampering lap times. It flies in a straight line... and VIR has three very fast straights so that helps a lot. But if C&D ran with sub-optimal traction control settings then their non-pro driver might have had to hold back quite a bit for confidence. Gebhardt from Sport Auto (who races and is very quick) was .7s slower in the 765LT at Hockenheim than a 720S on Trofeo Rs. Different day so tough to compare but the ballpark tells us that something about the 765LT is tricky at the limit. Here is what Sport Auto had to say:
"Why is the 765LT (1.46,2 min) slower than the 720S (1.45,5 min)? The 720S with Track Pack / Trofeo R had a very well balanced setup with perfect traction and a good drivability. In the 765LT it was the opposite. First problem: Entry oversteer when the steering input is a tiny bit too sharp (You have to work very, very sensitive on the steering wheel at the corner entry). Second problem: Less traction and snappy oversteer during accelerating out of the corner."

Does anyone know if SportAuto checks alignment prior to taking the car on track? It doesn’t seem very McLaren like to have the car set up to be ‘nervous’ from the factory other than in a straight line; hence I wonder about a slightly off spec alignment

I don't know. Based on some really poor handling I've seen from cars I know don't have the traits exhibited, I would guess not. On the other hand, it's not very McLaren like to deliver a car to a magazine track test with an off alignment.

Can anyone identify what car is on McLaren of Charlotte (mclarenclt) instagram story today?
It looks like a 720S that MSO took to the extreme in terms of extra aero and CF....almost to the point I wasn't initially sure it was even an 720S.

I am not positive but believe the 765LT has much shorter gearing than the Senna. Add in the aero drag and the Senna not keeping up in a straight line makes sense to me. The Senna will dominate the 765LT on a roadcourse, which is the task it was designed to do. The lower drag and shorter gearing work for the 765 on the strip but against it on a road course, making it tricky at the limit. Still mighty fast of course, but tricky. Yet potentially more fun if you dream of being a rodeo star ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I think the guy at Drag Times does a great job with his channel but he also makes me scratch my head a little bit. All his cars are powerful sports cars that, imo, are designed first for road courses. Yes they obviously work at drag racing too but it just seems a shame to own a collection like that and never/rarely fully experience the braking and cornering talents built into them. And if you want a road legal drag racer you can have a faster car for a lot less money.... as he demonstrated recently when a bolt on GT500 beat his 765LT in both et and trap speed in the quarter mile. It wouldn't beat the 765LT on a road course though!
