Agree on the weight and carbon tub. That's what they need to do for the GT2RS, as that would make the GT2RS worth 300K and truly a lightweight supercar.
I'm worried the GT2RS, will just be a Turbo S that lost 125lbs and had the boost turned up. (lost 15lbs with RS roof and body panels, 110lbs by removing the front wheel drive)

Taking into account that Porsche GT cars of late always punch above its weight, In my view I would expect the 2RS if is indeed close to 700 bhp, as far as customer cars go will be quicker on track than the lambo. This also based on my time on track with 91RS and standard H.
991RS chassis and aero way under powered imv.
Think Mac are playing things close with the 720s, after all the P1 ring time games....

I have a hard time believing that it did a 6:52, 5 seconds faster than the 918, and that the performante used on the Ring is the same car that will be in general production.

I doubt it...seems like we have been seeing development mules forever. There is something going on under there; like the 991.2 GT3, I expect they are not just going to pull from the existing parts bin...this is the flagship 911, and I expect we will see some new tech that will eventually trickle down...like electric turbos.

Howdy Y'all. I have been following the thread with interest. Wifey and I have been Porsche fans for a while, based in the UK and purchasing various 911s, Caymans and Boxsters.
We had a deposit on the 991.1 GT3 a few years back but were let down when the whole spontaneous combustion thing. We then switched to TechArt cars when our local dealer were unable to commit to a GT3 the summer we really needed a car.
In parallel, we did however put a LOI on a 991 GT2 back in 2012 and were very pleased to hear from our dealer last year about a possible GT2. They expect the car to be built and asked for a chunky deposit, which we provided. Popping back into the dealer recently we received a confirmation that *IF* Porsche make the GT2 (preferably an RS derivative), then "we are first in line".
Assignment on the 991 GT2 and GT3.2 at my dealer has been based on previous purchase history and "inability to deliver GT cars to those that wanted them previously", specifically GT4 and GT3.1.
Personally, I think the above attitude is fair. If my dealer had not delivered on the GT2, or GT3RS as backup, we would be switching to Mclaren or the Lamborghini for a new car. I would also be happy to sign some agreement that stopped me/others flipping the car as well.
Now just waiting on confirmation of the model, and assignment of stock to my dealer!

This time around it won't be enough to slap turbos on the 991rs. Competition is fierce in this segment .
