Agree - it could be done. But as much as I prefer manual to PDK, I will say that PDK shines best with a laggy turbocharged motor (no loss of boost on upshifts).

Thank you for the heads up. This GT2RS is so HOT, it is the main topic by car guys on almost all coffee stations at work today.

What a great achievement by the PORSCHE GT division. A twin-turbo 3.8 liter flat-six engine, and rear wheel drive only, outclassing the V-8 and all wheel drive cars in the competition.

Drive safe,

That's easy to fix. Just code flat shifts with a timing cut.

As for the video, this just shows how well the rear engine platform puts power down.

This car is able to stick all 700 horses early, and at shockingly low speeds. Weight distribution is to thank for that.

For the very same reason that it lagged behind in endurance racing, the 911 is unbeatable in a sprint HP/HP.

Was discussing this car today with a buddy as we walked up the 12th fairway. He had seen that recently the dodge demon popped a wheelie in testing. With the engine in the back and the insane grip, the 2RS must get incredibly light in the front end under full acceleration. Is the down force helping that much?

Who will be the first to do launch control on a steep uphill and do a backflip.

So I'm sure Sachs could give them advice on how to build a transmission and clutch to handle the required loads.

After all, Porsche figured out how to make the PDK handle this amount of torque.

It's not an engineering problem, but a marketing problem....
There is already a 9A1 manual trans - it was an option for 997.2 Turbo models. Already rated to hold over 500lb ft. Might need a little beefing up but there's an easy starting point.

MTs tend to be some of the most overbuilt components in the entire automotive industry.
997 turbos have been tuned into the 7s and 8s before. Building the manual to effortlessly handle 700 wouldn't be a problem.

Of course the best solution would be offering a six speed sequential dogbox.

Is there a reason there is no official Ring time for the McLaren 720S?

Or is there one and I've just missed it ...

Manual box is almost always my first choice, but in this one it would feel as appropriate as converting a helicopter gun to muzzle-loading, for authenticity.

Sometimes you just have to roll with it...

Yes look forward to see Lap time comparison's for the 720s.
Taking into account just how quick it is on road.....

This is my friend driving one round Silverstone. Have a look from 4.15. Some interesting steering angles..

They’re probably still too busy adding up the time for the P1.

I think McLaren said that they don't want to contribute to the Ring time mania.

Yeah - the P1 2M+ selling price really matters to McLaren.

Porsche guys freaked out when the SV and Performante times were turned but the 2RS comes in and no one questions anything - add water and get sub 6:50 2RS is a incredibly fast turbo love the W but impassible to get.
