just wow.

Porsche erzielt Weltrekord auf der Nürburgring-Nordschleife

GT2 RS mit 6.47,3 Minuten schnellster Porsche 911 aller Zeiten
Stuttgart.

for all the happy guys who have a valid order for the GT2RS: As you see the fast NOS car has no SatNav nor Radio - just two storage compartments for sandwiches.

Who´s car will be as fast as the NOS GT2?

Lars Kern is just a beast!
Rumour has it that he is also considerably faster than Marc Lieb in a 918 Spyder.
Being capable of beating Nick Tandy is also quite an effort.

Great job!

This thing is a beast!! 5 laps under 6:50s, from two different drivers and two different cars

Taken from the Porsche press release:

"....The GT2 RS is not only the most powerful, but also the fastest 911 ever built. This record was not a one-off: Lars Kern (30) from Germany and Nick Tandy (32) from the UK broke the previous record for road-approved sports cars (6 minutes, 52.01 seconds) in their first attempt and subsequently finished five laps in under 6 minutes, 50 seconds. Andreas Preuninger, Director GT Model Line, says: “It’s not just the record time achieved by the GT2 RS that demonstrates the vehicle’s class, but also its consistent performance in every lap. We’re particularly proud of the fact that this was achieved with two different vehicles and two different drivers, as this underlines the GT2 RS’s ability to reproduce this record result over and over again."

correct Mike!

but one thing to mention: based on the vids from Boris and infos from Dale - the multible lap attempts where clearly not on the same tires. not that somebody thinks 5 laps in a row or so. i guess even the cars where forced to cool down a bit during the attempts.

it was a warm up + hot lap per set.
pits + change wheels (pre heated).
and again.

to lap during stable conditions the NOS within a spreading of 3 seconds is the job of a professional racing drivers i would say.

nevertheless. mind bending stuff! awesome drivers. awesome engineering.
and i would like to give back the .1RS and pay extra 120k to get the GT2.

So. When we will see the Cup2ZP (which i guess was on the GT2RS) in RS/918 dimensions?

which treadwear index does have the ZP?
the Cup2 has 180 (as far i know N0, N1 and N2)
TrofeoR has 60...

Treadwear has very limited link to what the tyre can actually do performance wise. Corsas are way less than Cup2s in treadwear index and still are considerably slower tyre.

The gain of laptime with the trofeo r on this beast compared to the new psc2 compound is not so good it think, also i think if you put trofeo r on a 700hp gt2rs the rear will be dead after 15 hard laps on the ring (with my gt3 rs it is dead after 30 laps on the rear)
Also the Michelin has more progressivity and you can do faster laptime for more longtime than the trofeo r for sure

Mind bending.
Just the Ti bar, not even a full roll cage.
What a fantastic effort by the GT team and drivers.

In the video it seems to seems to want to rev higher then 7000 but I guess it wouldn’t be faster.
With water injection maybe it won’t loose much power before the tank is empty to cool things down.

Would love to know when we can put those tires on the GT3RS..
