BTW, does anyone know anything about the rumor of the Perf being 4.5secs faster around imola than the 918?

I think a lot of folks are going to be disappointed on GT2 RS allocation, as am I having being confirmed by my UK Porsche Centre that not looking good despite my 20yr relationship with them and many 911's (all GT, RS and Turbo's) either serviced/bought there.
Little interest in Lambo or Ferrari (although have owned 355 and 430 Scuderia in past) but definitely now considering switching over wholesale to McLaren as too much hard work to buy the cars I want from Porsche these days.

These days, if you don't own a 918, you don't exist in the world of Porsche. I'm done with the games. Get treated with a lot more respect by Ferrari.
PS - The Speciale sounds a lot better than a GT2RS sounds anyway, so pluses all around!

While trying to order a GT3RS a couple years ago, I got fed up with all of Porsche's gamey BS and went and bought a 458 Speciale instead. It was an easy purchase and the ownership experience has been outstanding in every way. Buy a Speciale instead, you'll be glad you did.

even without the game, porsche pricing structure is not making sense.

Half a tank is 33kg.
Weissach saves 30, aircon 15 and PCM 10. Then add back 20 for the cage and belts and there you are. If the Weissach saves 30kg including the cage and belts, then my mistake.

If it's 25kg for aircon and PCM, did I also read there is 5-7kg saving with bi-xenon?
That's c60kg total, or a tank of fuel. I'd say that's probably noticeable (you can feel a full v empty tank) but not sure if it's worthwhile in a Road car, to go without the creature comforts. (Even if only going on track jaunts, I have to drive a long way to get there).
Was going to go full lightweight, but now not sure which boxes I'll tick.

30kg WP saving is against a club sport with steel cage, so it's just a net 30

but honestly I think I'd just grab a 350R and spend the leftover on tracking and tires. you can do a lot of hooning with $300k....
