We get smashed on the following:
- Import Taxes
- GST (Goods and Services Tax 10%)
- Luxury Car Tax (33% on anything over approx 50 something grand) (this equates to circa $200 grand on this car alone)
- On road costs and stamp duty
Car is $650,000 + on roads etc + options. So out the door (Drive Away cost) it will be $750-800K is my guess).
I know not everything is comparable, i.e. different housing costs etc, if you compare the major cities we have versus major cities you have, prices are very similar (i.e. damn bloody expensive).
No matter which why you slice and dice it, USA cars are effing cheap. A GT3 in usa is what we pay for a C63 AMG.

From: Somewhere in a galaxy far, far away....
I really dig the whistle sound and spool of the turbos.
I had to add an aftermarket exhaust on my 997TT inorder to get that whistle sound.
I tend to drive my 997RS and my 997TT back to back when im in the city. The RS linear powerband and full song of the high rev engine is a thrill.
However, the 997 low end torque and whistle is also enjoyable.
The crackle and pop of the new GT2RS will be good times as far as im concerned.

Despite all this - i'll never leave the country permanently. It's too good.
Great Weather, Safe, Good Education, Beaches etc etc.
Anyway - back to the GT2 RS....
Hope we get those in depth videos from Drive Tribe and Evo when AP runs through the car in detail.

The more I look at it the more I want one. I hate to spend that kind of money on a car and can't spec the color I want. I'm not like the rest of you guys that had multiple cars before. The fastest I've been in was a 1995 Skyline R33 GT-R Vspec that was modified. With this potentially being my first Porsche. I'd love it no matter what. The GT2 is my dream 911 and anything Porsche has to offer. It's that price tag that's getting me right now. I'm going back and forth with it. This or the 675LT I've been looking at cause the market if almost flooded with the coupe versions.....

Do we have an facts on the water spray intercoolers? I've heard 3 laps of 'ring before reservoir needs refilled, which at say 21 minutes hard running is borderline annoying on a track day, especially if real-world useage is worse.
Have also heard that it runs down in about the same time as a tank of fuel, which would be a lot better.

The water tank is 5 litre, and it is only used when the ECU sense the intake charge temperature is above the threshold.
AP said the tank would also 3 laps at the Ring on a hot day, so if the car is running on a cool day, the water will last a lot longer.

One interesting detail is that the large side intakes ahead of the rear wheels are no longer used for engine combustion intake (like they are in 991 GT3 RS). Now they are used to chill the intercoolers and the engine gets its air on the rear decklid (ram air scoops like 991.2 GT3).
The 991 GT3RS used the Turbo body for the increased fender width for wider tires, and those come with the hole on the side and Porsche used them for air intake.
