I love the 675LT but I've not seen a 720S in the flesh yet, from the photos and videos I've seen I get the feeling it'll look amazing from some angles but not others.

I'm with you on that, the 720s is really not an attractive car.

Does anyone know the criteria on which dealers are given allocations of the GT2 RS? Porsche Vancouver has told me they have 5 of the 918 guys in line for their allocations and they don't know how many they will receive, as Whoopsy said, until Q4. On top of the 918 guys, there is a concentration of wealth here in the city - so it may not be the place to wait and hope.

I'm wondering if I should be talking to dealers in smaller regions, where they may only get a car or two, but not as much demand? But then, will these smaller guys even get a 2RS allocation at all.

Aren't some of these guys on this forum a 918 owner and said they didn't even get an offer? So I don't know. I want it. But I'm ready to get turned down or having to wait 2-3 years to get it. I'm not paying 600K for a 911

My dealer here in Europe requested for a 20k deposit that I paid (10k was requested for the 3RS when I ordered) and told me that they have no allocations yet and will know by Dec-March with deliveries mid-late 2018. He did state that the chances look good for me getting a car, so lets see...

About the allocation in france and i think in europe it work line that:

the garage collect the reservation bill from 1.5year ago for the gt2, you pay 2000€ for that

my garage getted 25 bill of reservation and at the beginin they expected 6/7 gt2 rs, in accordance to their sell, size, how many gt3 rs was sold in the garage, quality of the service etc...
finally porsche says to him middle of june that they will get only 3 gt2 rs
(for two big porsche official garage located in french riviera, they delivered 27 991 gt3 rs!)
offcourse people did not have the allocation will get refunded or priority for an other model.

so they needed to make a choice to allow 3 allocations on the 25bill.
i was lucky enough to get one, not because vip porsche owner, but because i drive hard on track all my car (with videos, battle etc) and because i will order this car with porsche finance instead pay cash or other leasing company, and offcourse the garage will get a commission from the financial porsche service ;-)

Late 2018 is that good? By then I wonder what else will be out. I can't wait that long! I just can stand to wait on my popcorn And I know I wouldn't pay those insane prices to get it.

If I understood you correctly your GT2RS is confirmed and your dealer already knows how many card they are getting?

Well if I manage to score a PTS 2RS by late 2018 I will not complain about the waiting time

Insane prices you mean mark-ups for early delivery?

Personally I'd rather have a non-PTS car at the start of 2018; wouldn't have the patience to wait another year, especiallly once the reviews and first customer cars come out!

Many of the high end dealers (Porsche, Maserati, Rolls, Mercedes, etc.) are also major sponsors and have tents and displays. There is really no new information, but after discussions with everyone from dealers, regionals, and VIPs. etc., regarding the GT2 RS I believe the following to be the current state in our area:

1) No one in our area has received an allocation
2) No one (dealer or otherwise) has any specific information that has been formally communicated by Porsche or Porsche NA concerning volume to be produced, (500 cars? 1000 cars? 2000 cars?) , nobody knows.
3) Porsche has encouraged dealers to submit genuine demand for the car from their customers into the system
4) Porsche has communicated that this car is not plaqued and numbered or limited, but has not explained what that really means (i.e., will not answer the question "if it is not limited, will all demand be produced?)

So, the bottom line is there is not alot of information. As I have communicated before, I am #2 at my dealer, small market, even without info my gut says I am out.

The most interesting comment I had from a dealer who is out of the area of the concours, but someone I know well and trust, told me with all the press and the spec on the car being much more attractive than was anticipated, he is receiving many calls. The same question for all, "I know I am late to the party, so just tell me, how much to cut the line?" As Martin points out, sometime we are our own worst enemy.
Thanks.

Party is for the 918 owners - anyone after that is an after thought. If Porsche wants these cars to be driven vs feather dusted they will produce enough to sprinkle them at every dealer but if they want their top tier customers and dealers to make a few extra bucks they will be limited. After the R debacle I think Porsche sees there is no reason to limit the 2RS.

Exactly. I don't mind waiting but for a whole year?

If they bought the 918 from Porsche America then they should be in the VIP program unless they sold it too soon and were removed from it, all the members of the VIP program should have been offered 911R's and GT2RS's according to people in the program who were offered exactly that.
