This post doesn't have much to do with the track other than it will essentially be a bullseye on my back now at every track day for any 996/997 guy. LOL.
Seriously though, folks, it's meant to be light hearted. We all know it's not a Mezger and a new 'unproven' engine. This is meant to be humorous, not a mean dig on Hans Mezger.
Joe, what jack do you use? Does it fit with the jack stand pads? Also, I'm curious if you use gloves when at the track for working on the tires? I'm tired of almost burning my hand working on tire temps and air pressure. I need something gloves. Do you use any?

At the track? I use the generic harbor freight racing jack.
At home? I use the rolling jacks that are on my lift, which have jack pads built into them.
I don't plan on doing any tire changes on track with this car. The centerlocks are too much of a pain in the ***. Anytime I take off the wheels, it will be at home in a controlled environment. That being said, I try to remember to bring some mechanics gloves to every track day in case I happen to need them.

I meant for just letting out air after a session. Last weekend I nearly burnt my hand off. I was thinking about something like this, which I've used on film sets: http://www.filmtools.com/sethothanglo.html
but there must be an equivalent for mechanics working on hot things?

Are you leaving the caps off of your valve stems? I always take those things off and leave them at home.

^Ha, Ha I love the plate!
Another item to remove for track work is the dust covers on the hub. I lost a custom painted one on the track. It's not that it wasn't seated on correctly, it's that the hub temps create pressure and can pop them off with the heat from running at the track. Not sure if this is the case with the 991, but my .2 GT3 had this and others too. No reason to think it will be any different here. Price them out and you will thank me later.
