I bought a 1987 turbo cab, last of Tcab 5 spd in 1998 red/linen that was absolutely flawless 14k miles for $55k. At the time I paid top dollar for the car but it what what I really wanted. Could have purchased a carrera cab or similar for less money. I ponied up & always loved it!
Unfortunately in 2001 some idiot Tboned me & car was trashed. Needless to say I was heart broken. Today would be worth $200k+
I shopped for new P when 996 had just came out. Totally disappointed w water cooling, weird front end & headlights. Icing on cake was that Bboxter came out before 996. Totally insulting to legendary 911 fans!
Narrowed it down to 993 C4S aero 1 kit, 993 TT or 1994 3.6 Turbo.
Chose C4S which I have always loved & enjoyed. Value of my C4S is great but value of TT & 3.6T are way up there!
Ill pony up for the bad boy! Think it will be last of NA GT cars & a real keeper!

Wife=you got better than 996 grats!
Part of the reason I'm hanging on to my C2S, and all of the reasons I bought my Cayenne GTS, have to do with N/A vs turbo... I'll continue to upgrade if they continue to have no turbs, otherwise...
There was someone in this thread if I remember correctly (God knows I'm not going back after reading all the way here for months) that spoke of their 997 6sp TTS vs 991 GT3. It spoke mostly verbatim to what I discribe on a regular basis-especially as the "elec nannies" get more prevalent, regarding the first few seconds of throttle response... In a turbo you press, wait, a few seconds later pass the n/a guy, meanwhile with pdk and n/a (at least in the us) you've already reached your comfortable vmax and let off...

I kid you not, but the throttle response and the linearity of the throttle feel is practically indistinguishable from the older NA California.
The henchmen at Maranello have essentially dialed out the turbo sensation with their variable boost management system.
I could live with blowers if all FI engines acted like this. Not that I'm asking for one, but when (not if) the day comes, I hope for a similar setup from Porsche.

Porsche announced a new pure race track GT4 coming by the end of the year. Others are saying that's the GT4 Cup. I was really hoping for a new GT4 RS with manual of course. What's your thought on that?
Mate you must be psychic. I was typing exactly same thing over at GT4 board just now. With Mech33 news there maybe a PDK GT4 in the wings launch Sept 2016 and also mention of another GT type car in MT soon (Spyder?) then talk is theres enough interest may be GT4RS in 2017. Add to that what Im hearing about possible LE gen 2 GT3 in manual. Bloody great time to be a consumer!

I've heard this from multiple people and supposedly the 488 will replicate. In short, no I haven't, but look forward to it. I know that electronic turbos (why so long?) and other techs will help. Although I haven't driven, I know the best I can hope for is what is already offered in n/a-they are just doing their best to replicate... In other words, given the same hp/tq, I think you find it hard to find anyone that wouldn't choose n/a over turbo, but the key word is "same"
