The Motorsports department have adapted technology from the Chaparral 2J Can-Am car for additional downforce. The dual fans are powered by uprated RWS motors and the new rear quarter vents serve as the exhausts for the system.

This is from a very very trusted source so please don't quote me. This is the spoiler that will be on the RS but it's on a different car so no one would guess.

Wing looks awesome! Did they switch the purple launch color to the pink that's on the car's right side? I assume the white is a wrap?

Are you sure? Because I interpret his quote as meaning they have a new engine for this car, not based on the 991 GT3's 9A1 variant. He even said we can't afford to keep an engine for 10 years now due to ever changing emissions requirements. And it goes further to say that the 991.2 and 981.2 will feature turbocharged variants of this new n/a engine.

Am I completely misinterpreting?

I don't see it in any way as a comparison against the 997.2 GT3 RS engine.

Edit: I guess I missed the discussion a few pages ago. Apologies for rekindling an old debate. We'll see in a few months.

I'm a little confused. Do we have reason to doubt this information, which I know has been posted previously? Tells us quite a bit, and fairly definitively. Do we think Hatz would mention manual if it wasn't going to be an option?

new valve train

much higher RPM due to lower rotational mass throughout the drivetrain
dry sump lubrication and new oil pan
additional piston oil spray injector
two additional oil extraction points in sump
oil wiper
relocation of oil/water heat exchanger and filter to bottom of the engine
new intake system
higher fuel injection pressures (200 bar versus 120 bar)
different injectors

Within the context of a flat six, that seems like a pretty inclusive list. If we're talking about going to a different configuration altogether, then that's another matter. Maybe I shouldn't have quoted the guy who headed up the project as it may just have been a sales job on his part.
I've created a new thread to try and clear up some of the conclusion here:

I think you'll agree that saying only four parts are shared is stretching it, however it's interesting to see exactly what is similar... and what's completely different.

One of the folks on rennteam says his Porsche dealer confirmed there will be 600 RS worldwide. So as rare as the 4.0.

How many 4.0 did you guys get in the US?

I wonder why so few.. They made too many 918, but then they hit the jackpot with a car and keep it unobtainable.
