The Motorsports department have adapted technology from the Chaparral 2J Can-Am car for additional downforce. The dual fans are powered by uprated RWS motors and the new rear quarter vents serve as the exhausts for the system.

Am I completely misinterpreting?
I don't see it in any way as a comparison against the 997.2 GT3 RS engine.
Edit: I guess I missed the discussion a few pages ago. Apologies for rekindling an old debate. We'll see in a few months.

I'm a little confused. Do we have reason to doubt this information, which I know has been posted previously? Tells us quite a bit, and fairly definitively. Do we think Hatz would mention manual if it wasn't going to be an option?

From what I've read, major differences between the 9A1 in the Carrera and the GT3 are:
new cylinder heads
new valve train
forged pistons and titanium rods
two radially-driven high pressure fuel pump versus one axially driven pump
much higher RPM due to lower rotational mass throughout the drivetrain
dry sump lubrication and new oil pan
additional piston oil spray injector
two additional oil extraction points in sump
oil wiper
relocation of oil/water heat exchanger and filter to bottom of the engine
new intake system
higher fuel injection pressures (200 bar versus 120 bar)
different injectors
Within the context of a flat six, that seems like a pretty inclusive list. If we're talking about going to a different configuration altogether, then that's another matter. Maybe I shouldn't have quoted the guy who headed up the project as it may just have been a sales job on his part.

I think you'll agree that saying only four parts are shared is stretching it, however it's interesting to see exactly what is similar... and what's completely different.
