Yup, see other German car makers, 100% Turbo. Emission regulations are just going to suck worse and worse.

The current GT3 might be the last NA GT3 engine made.

It's a keeper!

How has no one freaked out over the RS getting a different engine than the base GT3?

http://blog.caranddriver.com/2016-91...earbox-option/

It's honestly surprising to me. Does that indicate a lack of confidence in the current GT3 motor?

Go back a few pages....it was discussed at length. Look at all the awards the new GT3 has received. Literally every review is over the top. No need for any lack of confidence.

Sorry, I missed the previous discussion. I'm well aware of the GT3 and love it regardless of a new motor in RS. Just surprising to me, that's all.

I think we covered this subject a few posts back. Just incase you missed it, some (including me) by use of the word "new engine" meaning a new motor for the RS (rather than the use of a Mezger). To us, it means a bored out 4.0 9A1 version of the current GT3, as it could also mean that the "4.0" is new as well. At the end of the day it could all be lost in translation from what Mr. Hatz has revealed.

A lot of us, think the statement was referring to an all new engine from the previous RS Mezger motor, much like the GT3 motor is all new compared to the previous GT3 Mezger motor......time will tell.

Very true gentlemen. Sorry for re-hashing the subject, as I just stumbled upon the article today. Time will tell indeed, I guess we will all know in about 6-7 weeks.

When they say new motor for 991RS, they are comparing it to the outgoing 997.2RS....
