it doesn't cost that much to get a car here from europe. I was just quoted $6500 to get a car air freighted from Zurich to LAX. Yes, there is import duties an other logistics, but I don't think it should be an inhibitor to get the right car in.

The interior leather looks surprisingly worn for the low mileage. Maybe it's just the photos.

To my untrained eye,
  • Looks like a decent amount of stone chipping / paint imperfections on the hood... I would ask the seller for detailed photos of this area. If you can see these marks from ~10 ft away in the photos, it will be very present IRL
  • I would ask about the interior finish. I've never seen that color. See if you can get the color code from the seller, and then look up other cars online with that interior to compare.
  • The seals around the Targa bar look pretty dry and worn. The Targa top doesn't look like it's sitting flush, so I would ask for more detailed photos around that area too.
  • Engine fan looks like it has some corrosion around the blades. I'd be concerned about other areas in the car regarding rust.
All things considered, $68K at 63K miles seems a bit steep to me given those concerns. Run a CarFax, and if you need a place for a PPI, check out Foreign Affairs (https://foreignaffairsmotorsports.com/) and ask for Bobby. He did a PPI for me on a different Targa last month and did a great job.

@illerucis please PM me the contacts of the targa you ppi’d last month. I would assume it is not the red BAT example which by now you may have in your garage. The condition of your car by photos alone is not comparable to this blue one.

I am due to examine the blue targa from ASG, and probably will do that next week. As I can still not comment on the car, @kkabba for whatever it’s worth I have done business before with ASG and both owners are stand up guys and more importantly are both car enthusiasts who support the local car community.

Happy Holidays everyone..!

Looks like (dirty) Linen interior to me. Easy enough to freshen up or convert to black but not cheap at the 68k. At least the dash and steering wheel are black.

That was my initial thought as well. The thing is, the coloring is so consistent, up and down the shifter, the center console, all areas of the seats and door panels, and even the back seats too. Can't be that consistently dirty, right? Dunno...

It’s actually a grey interior that has a marbling effect, it was available as an option in the 911 and 928’s and I’ve seen it in both. The dealer has clearly messed with the lighting on the photos as everything looks like it was Saran wrapped which isn’t helping anything IMHO.

JAB I would be curious to get your thoughts when you go so see it. Not many Targa’s available these days especially in unique colors.

Oh wow...that changes some things! What a unique color combination...very interested to see how this turns out. For what it's worth, I think that car would look great with the original D90s on it.

For this reason and so many more based on personal experience, I would never buy a car from a dealer in Miami (again.)

Very poor resolution but I would suspect paintwork. Especially with the aero mirror update maybe just a blend but they had to do something. I believe the targa badge is sitting too low. I do agree the marbled gray interior is quite rare and something you don't see often adding value but impossible to fix if damaged unlike the solid colors. Very similar to Matador red with the marbling effect. Mileage is not exceptionally low but Targa's seem to be getting noticed more and more. I agree with Miami based sales people but not a reason to ignore it. Just do your homework and have a proper PPI done. IMO they are asking all the money but need more detailed photos, proof of miles, no paint work and undercarriage shots along with close up high res un-doctored photos.

In Miami, you need a PPI done on the PPI shop. Be cautious who you choose. Often times, the shop the seller least wants to visit is the best choice. Never use their recommendations.

Good point. Not much unlike a realtor recommending a home inspector. LOL
