A definite yes! I lived on the tip of Maunalua Bay and even things in a tightly sealed (not air tight) garage would rust. You’d need an airtight faculty or a prodigious washing/waxing schedule top and undercarriage.

But the weather makes up for it all....

I'd suspect any Hawaii car should be looked at closely. Not only is it an island surrounded by water, it's humid (in most areas... except dry side of the big island) and rains a LOT.

I live coastal here in SoCal and we don't have the corrosion issues as even though I'm a couple blocks off the water its very dry here.

most rust you see on the older cars is from over-washing :-)

In SoCal and ANY other place, the spots known are commonly under seals that should be removed or blown out after any moisture ingresses. But washing in and of itself will not rust out vehicles when the factory corrosion protectors or areas not disturbed (blown off or some other oil protectant applied). Otherwise, PNW is doomed to a consistent high level of 100% humidity which isn’t the case. You’re referring to wearing the clear coat of other areas that have some form of protection from egress/ingress or sealant/protectant. Much like over-cleaning the bore of a rifle/handgun.

but I get what your saying

Super shady guy...I called him out on misrepresentation but he continues to play dumb. Run far away from that car & seller. Such a shame because Oak Green is a cool colour. Hope no one gets screwed.

thank you Cobalt - paint thickness is consistent around the car @ 4-6 depth other than the engine lid that’s @ 17 and clearly got repainted.

[QUOTE=cobalt;17152900]Just check it out closely. Many cars have reports but minimal damage. The cars that concern me are the ones that have no reports and hidden damage. I see cars that look great clean carfax until you meter them and no reading from nearly an inch of bondo. If it checks out the tub is straight and nothing showing after all these years I would consider having it fully checked out. I have no issue with paintwork

This one will be interesting to watch.
Someone went all in and I think it looks great ... although I think it would look better with E88s or even Cup 1s.
Build looks to be 203k plus whatever the donor car cost.

Agreed. Awesome build minus the Brotiforms rim choice. Easy fix though.

We will see how much 9M is valued in the aftermarket world with this one. Is it worth like a RUF/Singer/Emory vs everything else(9M, Rothsport, Protosport etc..) that gets % of dollar back spent? What is the % pecking order?

All it takes is two interested individuals bidding against each other.

Wow, awesome opportunity for someone to get into the 9M car. Behind RUF/Singer/Emory, 9M is absolutely in the highest tier of builder with the likes of Rothsport.

I actually don't mind the style of the Rotiforms. The fitment, however, is far too aggressive with the lips protruding beyond the fenders.

I do wonder how much money the builder left on the table by having it repainted in black, versus one of the more exciting 964 RS colors.

Another PCAR auction. Strong bidding on this one already with its rare diamond blue metallic color and tasteful mods although not a fan at all of the carpeting choice. https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/1...964-carrera-4/

Agreed.

I’m curious to see how a non-Singer/non-Emory resto does esp. one with so few post-resto miles.

9m is comparable to Rothsport in my mind, especially given their central focus on engine and performance. I don’t see the similarity to Singer or Ruf, given that both of them design their own cars that customers personalize vs building a car to customer spec.
