Ha ha ha. A purchase from chasing "the shiny thing" between two bidders do not make the market unfortunately. Many of us would have struggled to pay half that.

Apparently this car was owned by Rudy at one time. Nothing original about it. Carpet, interior and paint all redone. The HP numbers are bogus and no way you will see that from what was done. A number of things I have to question but not much is hotter than a clean 964 coupe these days especially in a unique and nice color.

Wow, that's wild. Can't believe it sold for that much but I guess that's just a sign of the times.
Always think I should have bought 2 back in 2013 when I bought mine and sold the other- but that's 20/20 clarity that I didn't have back then!

I spent an hour viewing this car last weekend before bidding turned ludicrous. High bid was at $75K at the time and I figured to take a look and potentially make a run at it due to familiarity of the owner, the shop that did the work, specifically the mechanic, and proximity to me. Car was less than a mile away from me. The color is everything on this car, the details on all the modified items and the overall cleanliness of how things were done is more than up to par. Carpet color and others are a matter of taste. Shifting is flawless and engine bay as clean as a new whistle as well as all new gap rubber that at one point was also replaced. The wheels were impeccable too. I can see why anyone would have wanted the car, myself included, just not anywhere near the price it trended upward to and ultimately sold at. Of course I can speak from a strong position of already owning a unique 964. If I still were in the hunt I probably would have been more motivated. Auction ending was very entertaining. Good for the seller and the new owner who I think is a member in here too @cjhooper only wish him many more miles with smiles with this example. Onto the next....

good to know. I agree the car was nicely done, color is a huge plus but still many ? High miles early 90’s engine? Price to me doesn’t add up but stranger things have happened.

Get over the “high miles” argument. You haven’t seen the car in person, so your opinions are purely speculative, unfounded, and frankly comical. Any vintage car that is intended to be DRIVEN requires meticulous maintenance and upkeep. This car went one step further to fully dial it in and upgrade beyond RS specs with the added benefits of AWD. It’s trolls like you that kill the market. You would benefit the entire community by keeping your biased opinions to yourself and practicing how to heel toe, assuming you even drive your car.

the other piece that no one has mentioned here is the value of what I consider my most valuable asset - time. This car took 2-3 years to complete? New owner gets to enjoy right now. I know I’m in the minority with this opinion as most of these cars trade at a discount to what they actually cost to do but there are clearly people out there who are willing to pay up for something done, right here right now. Same applies for real estate, buy a fixer upper and spend 3 years doing the work and you’ll be less out of pocket but will have needed another place to live during that time. Or pay up and move in tomorrow. Not saying either is right in general, but personal to each individual. Congrats to cjhooper for a car he is going to enjoy!
