It consistently surprises me that 30-40k cars with a clean up and polish sell for 50-60k but cars that someone has spent tons of time and money on sorting can't sell for 70-80k. Maybe people like sending their new cars straight to a shop for 10-20k in work? I've certainly seen it enough times. Who knows.

FYI, due to health reasons driving a manual is difficult for me nowadays so my 1992 964 Carrera Cup Car USA with 24k original miles (one of the 4 Parts Car out of 45 ever made) will be for sale and Holts Motorsports of West Chester, PA will be handling the process. I already sold my GT-2 and the fully built 996 tt (1140hp) and the Cup is the last one to go. I'm staying Porsche only with PDK this time around preferably a 2014 and up Turbo S so I'm on a hunt. Happy Motoring!

I have listed my 964 cabriolet for sale on Pelican: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...et-manual.html

My wife and kids are outside the country (to attend school in person) and I will most likely spend at least a year there. I have considered shipping it but I also know that I want to get a coupé at some point.

No surprise for you but this car convinced me that the 964 is the best air-cooled platform

Really sorry to hear that. You're in good hands with Holt!

this was a nice one, Tarek307 listed it and it sold in 2-3 hours, crazy...wonder what it would have brought if he put on Bringatrailer

A friend of mine has one on order. Sounds insane and at a fraction the price of a Taycan. Sounds like Porsche will need to step up their game.

Re Bringatrailer, likely he doesn't want/need the added hassle and reputation dilution.
But, who knows?

That was an interesting car.
Limited slip and... not much else.
No small number of 'luxury' items were left off its order list: e.g., back shelf speakers, rear wiper, driver comfort seat, CD player radio, etc...
Still... where on its minimal, performance-oriented order list were the 17" Cup wheels?! (Option 403)

From a personal interest standpoint, it's interesting noting the 'theft-deterant' stickers (Bulletin 9301) seen on my '93's March build weren't yet on this Nov.-build car...
But it DID have the inner front hood 'shiny' paint surface like mine. So there's that! (Man, talk about 'yer Trivial Pursuit topics)

Yours was a very late build nearly a 94. My 8/92 build date 93 doesn't have them either. The LSD was probably toast by now or plates will need replacing soon. Although if it sold that quickly I would venture to guess he priced it too low and should have been closer to $80k. Looks like his reputation for an honest seller helps move these along quickly. Your car should sell at the price you have it at maybe try other listings. I have been offered a fair amount more than $80k for mine but that was before I decided to chop it up but mine has only 62k miles and many expensive upgrades..

As a Model S driver and Porsche fan, Porsche needs to step up in charging infrastructure. They already have the superior product (less "autopilot.") I just cant drive it anywhere, relatively speaking.

cashflow matters. I have buddies in the vintage watch business who regularly sell things for less than top dollar because they have more inventory to go buy.

To be fair, there is a lot less involved in carrying an inventory of watches vs cars.

i am LOL’n rite now, are you serious? What other options should it have that would make it desirable ? Other than LSD or let’s say slicktop these are only options that matter. Rear wiper looks terrible, wouldn’t want that.

I think Terek asked $75k and got his asking price rite away because he priced it aggressively and rite , now if it was let’s say the one in the classifieds section with 30k more miles “rear wiper” “special glove box inner lock hatch or whatever” lol and 2 accidents and he asked that he’d be a dreamer.

Wow.

It wasn't my intent to incite a flame. Quite the contrary, I'd written in admiration. But that's not how you'd taken it, so here we are.

I'd hoped to express that, unlike most(?) 964's, that car took a decidedly performance-optioned turn. That whoever was originally checking boxes... didn't. Or, at least, not very many. It's as though they were looking to pare down performance-robbing weight -- opting for the LSD check box, and not much more. What you mistakenly took as criticism (over the car's lack of options?) was, instead, a hat tip to its original buyer's spartan focus. (And, in turn, my bafflement over his passing over the 17" wheel option.)

These cars are what they are, as we find them, when we bought them. And, too, when we sell them.
What one guy declares an eye-rolling option(s) list, others may value.

BTW, Stutt, how's your 964 search going?
(Small world: I was working in SD when I found mine in '06. Private listing in Mission Viego for $22k. They ranged from 15-20k then. Go figure!)
In case you haven't found one yet, hope you find yours, too.

May be listing my 90 targa tiptronic up soon, just got back from an extensive overhaul, oil cooler lines replaced, fans replaced etc, Realized that during COVID just not driving as much so the car will need to go. Its got 140k miles on the clock and its a a tip, but still a blast to drive and easy in traffic.
