Safari 911s have been around for years now it seems and I just don't get it. How to take a great sportscar and make it now mediocre at two things...
I do they are a hoot to drive if you live in a desert environment and the 911SCRS did amazingly well back in the day. I need something like this for the winter snow months. I would then not have to drive my Pickup as my cars don't see salty roads.
This sounds like a car I know someone was interested in. Cobalt on an RS is very rare. I wonder if it is the same car higher miles but one of just 6 made in this color AFAIK.

Not many made 5 or 6 is the number I heard. Don’t think it would’ve been PTS either being manufactured in either ‘91 or ‘92. It’s rarer than Fly Yellow that’s for sure which was PTS. Remember Andreas Preuninger did an Instagram post on a Cobalt Blue RS he drove a few years ago. Pretty sure it isn’t the same car as the center caps are different, red brake calipers, and it had Walter Röhrl‘s signature on the fuel filler cover.
The car we were looking at had Walter Röhrls signature so it was probably the car Preuninger posted. Although I think he is looking at a different car right now.
Remember this car from last year when it was for sale with Autosport Designs. Thought it may’ve been a TMU. Also the eye bolts in the rear indicate harnesses and a marking in the headliner above the driver seat probably someone hearing a helmet which was rubbing it. Also there are some stickers missing around the car so possibly some paintwork.

My understanding is the car was recently purchased. I had a feeling there was more going on but the buyer walked me through what he felt was a good car and I couldn't find anything glaringly wrong based on his interpretation of the facts. It has had some work done to it. The shop he had do the PPI said it was a good car but my first impression based on the wording of the PPI was to run. He claimed there are no marks on the eye hooks and other things he discounted that I thought were potential issues. I wish I had this link last week. He really wanted Maritime but I had no line on an RS in that color. I have a few nice white ones but nobody wants white these days. The evening of I believe he purchased the car a friend contacted me about a C2 Slick top in Maritime with very low miles. I always say wait another will pop up if you aren't certain. rare or not. Although the price was all the money.
What are your thoughts about this car? I looked it over and for the most part it was nice but so many things left still needing attention. They note odo needed repair and the car looked like TMU when I first saw it seemed like it had more miles than stated. I see they got Paul Miller Porsche to supply some of the parts.

I don't understand the combo but I know many people who love it. Personally the only interior on cobalt for me is black or cobalt. I have seen cashmere and IMO a bad combo. I would take the Magenta over it personally. Most have light gray or classic gray. Interestingly of all the cobalt 964's I have seen very few have black interior which works very well with Cobalt. I am not a huge color other than black interior fan on some colors and this is one.

The PCA car looks ok for the most part. The rear spoiler is still split in the top center. Center reflector is beyond pinking it’s orange and doesn’t match either rear lights. Must’ve been stored in a place with a lot of moisture. May’ve been stored outside. Pans particularly front. Did have some rust on some suspension components and also rust on the front cowl and at the base of the windshield. As for mileage I couldn’t say as I don’t have a lot of info on it before all this work as done. From what it sounds like from this video they did from 2021 (go to 45 minutes in) it did have a lot of wear for only 36k miles at the time. Very unusual sunroof delete car. Although it doesn’t have option code 652 which deleted the sunroof which came standard on all US delivered 964’s at that time.
Agree cobalt works best with black or blue interior. Could work with a linen interior, but it would be a lot of work to keep it clean. Don’t like classic gray interior on any car really as it always looks bland to me and never works the best with any color. Besides with close matching colors such as Rubystone Red or Amethyst, magenta only works with neutral colors such. With blue or green it looks horrible. Some people do find uniqueness beautiful even though to most visually it isn’t.
