964 Prices

I just received a 993 I am helping a friend out with. BaT sale somewhat recently. Don't ask me which one. A very nice car the owner will be having some fun with.
After reading the comments by the seller on this one and sifting through the mindless comments by some well known posters and other ra ra's, it was so easy for the seller to skirt the questions about paint and other items that were overly exaggerated. Yet the stupid stuff was in full detail and when some serious questions asked they were put down by others and disregarded.
All I will say as not to offend in case the owner is reading this but there are many things that the seller clearly had to know about and was misleading in how it was worded. Which could be BaT since they write up the listing, but the sellers comments clearly were IMO deceitful as he knew what he did does not qualify as fixing the issues, being honest about the paint and other aspects of the car.
I no longer see any cars trade hands that don't have a series of issues the sellers had to have known about and clearly omitted or skirted questions about.

Cobalt did you see the black 964 post without pics and holt and sell before the photos developed ? How did I know that would happen

Caveat Emptor, these are old cars. Like anything else do your due diligence.

Most of the time it is a first time air cooled buyer that ends up with these. It is easy to be taken if you don't suspect or assume they are like newer cars. The 993 ends up being a very nice driver that presents well but is far from original condition and has some obvious needs the seller had to have known about or claimed he addressed and failed miserably.

These two RS America’s have been on the market for awhile being passed around a few different dealers. They started off with Ray Joseph at RPM Sports Cars for a few years, then went to All Things Porsche for about a year, and now are at Marshall Goldman. They are priced very high, but are both pristine examples when I saw them at RPM Sports Cars last year. The red one has all four options and the white has A/C and sunroof.

Not the top of the market anymore, but even if it still was they would be under $250k. The most desirable RSA’s have LSD and no sunroof. Both of these cars have sunroof’s and the white one has no LSD. Even if they were optioned right still IMO not worth what they’re asking. The colors on the normal palette from what I’ve seen all seem to do about the same. PTS ones bring a crazy premium of $50k-$100k as there are only 8 known to exist.

My C4 just rolled over 363,000 KM...would be nice if you were right! All I know is I drive it wherever and whenever I please, and that's worth a heck of a lot more to me than it's "market value".

I sound like a broken record to my local PCA pals but I tell them. Drive the damn car you're on this earth for a short time. Stop saving it for the next person.

@forbiddenbeat I’ve notice that a lot of sellers use the comments for that and provide a decent write up as soon as the listing goes live.

At the prices these are commanding, is anyone taking them out on track, experiencing whatever impact of a higher center of gravity resulting from the extra weight up top?
I can see where the argument had more value back in the mid and late 90s when perhaps a lot of RSAs were used on track; but at this point, really, for the majority of owners, what’s the issue with a factory-equipped RSA with sunroof? Porsche certainly didn’t have an issue building them.

I never understand the sentiment against RSAs with sunroofs. I honestly do not have a bias either way, even though my RSA has a sunroof from the factory.
