Right rear side window on my Cup:

I've never heard of RS Americas being outfitted with lightweight glass from the factory. Given that manual windows were nixed due to the DOT recertification requirements, I doubt Porsche would've pursued DOT recertification for just the windows. These all have DOT markings so I suspect they are standard glass.
I did some looking around and the rear quarter windows are often marked “057”. Door glass and vent windows marked “026”. It’s like this with all 964’s outside of the RS or motorsport cars. Slightly different markings like the one above with “Saint-Gobain” started appearing sometime in cars built in early 1992 (actual date not model year). Not all the glass had this marking early on and later cars had it on all the side glass. It’s confusing and not a lot of consistency in those days as some markings are slightly different throughout 964 production. The thinner glass was not DOT certified on the doors, but was ok for the rear quarter glass. The US Cup had the thin door glass even though it wasn’t US legal. Though the lower ride height wasn’t either, but the car was still allowed to come here anyway.

43R-001026 and 43R-001057 are approval numbers which are not specific to Porsche. 43R-001026 and -57 glass is used on Mercedes, Volvo, BMW, Opel, VW, Seat, Saab, Porsche, and other European manufacturers.

All this to say that it's likely something other than the -026 and -057 codes that would indicate the thickness of the glass.

I was under the Impression that all the glasses thick and thin were DOT approved. That is the DOT27 markings. The M23100 is to identify Sekurit as the manufacturer and the AS2 is the safety rating. This marking is on both the thick and thin glass. Clearly the US spec cup cars came with the thin side glass so it had to meet some requirements to enter the US. I suspect it was more of a Bean counter and warranty issue than anything from stoping them from using it. I also think the weight savings was minimal. The RS side glass actually comes from the 959.
The glass doesn’t make a huge difference in weight saving for either the Carrera RS or USA Cup. The thickness goes from 4.7 to 3 mm. Most of the weight saving came from removing stuff such as sound dampening material.
Based on those numbers and a reported density of automotive glass of 2.5 grams per cubic centimetre, the weight savings per square foot of glass is 395 grams or 0.87 pounds.
So clearly not worth the risk of breaking which they do. Even the new thin glass in the GT3RS's break all the time.

I think the amazon will be another RNM. It has too many issues and is far from an original car. The photos make it look great but the paintwork was not the best the interior has ?? and I suspect TMU. Another 'low mile" rebuild, repaint with changes made like no rear wiper decals peeling off the calipers and many other little things tells me the car will not reach the reserve.

Should have clarified, the black RSA was the investor grade car. But $255k is trying money.
agree about the turbo. Amazing how many people don’t take issue with a rebuild at 38k, and justify it with just being “old”….
