we have a place in Ashe County, NC and you are absolutely correct. the roads in NC, TN, and VA in that area are just amazing. i used to keep my ktm supermoto and ducati multistrada in the mountains there just for those roads.

congrats on the GT. i watched the auction from the sidelines.

Congrats and thanks for reaching out to the community here on RL!
The refrain "these cars are meant to be driven" couldn't ring truer when it comes to the 928. My '91 GT garage queen with <55k on the clock needs to be brought out of hibernation every time I fire it up (which isn't nearly enough). My '88 that's a little rough around the edges showed 136k when I bought it 14 years ago. TMU due to a broken speedo. Maintained but never babied. It pulls like a beast and runs like a 10 year old car with 40k on the clock. Which car do I enjoy more? The '88 - hands down. Because your philosophy is that a car needs to be driven to be enjoyed, and you intend on driving it, I think you'll enjoy this special 928 more than some of us who enjoy our garage queens.
I got the impression that Pbone666 is a car guy who represented this car honestly and enthusiastically. I also think he'll miss this rare GT at some point. I hope that there are no surprises in this great purchase and it's ready to get in, drive..
..and enjoy.

Unique color combination I think makes this a worthy candidate to be saved.

Congratulations and Welcome to the Deep End of the Shark Pool. That's a nice buy and one you will always want to DRIVE!

You will undoubtedly LOVE the drive to SITM and the destination is breathtaking... and Jeannie is hosting so you know it's gonna be fun. Once youre hooked, you might as well register for Sharks Discover Columbus II, July 18 - 20th, in Dublin (Columbus), OH. Another great drive to one of the premiere 928 events of the Summer. Last year we had 62 Sharks lining the entryway to a 1,000 vehicle car show and it was a BLAST! Most people have never seen a 928, much less over 60 of the nicest examples in the country & Canada. Then, you gotta get your ducks in a row and register for 928 FRENZY in Dulles, VA, in September. Another event not to be missed.

Needless to say, the 928 community likes to get together OFTEN and we DRIVE our cars... because... WHY NOT?!?! Eating up stretches of mountainous highway roads in NC, VA, WV & TN is what the 928 was designed to do. Hope to see you at all 3 events!

Again, Congratulations!

Joel

Possible one of one, probably ordered that way. During the period of "928s are valueless" which significantly coincided with "green cars are unsellable" this probably fell through the cracks over cost of some required service work.

Is it a Euro or US car?

If it was a Euro 1985 it would be a 16v 4.7 ltr,, this 928s is a 32v 5.0 ltr. parts car IMHO.
Else, paint, interior, and mechanical = ~ $30k as it needs all three

and the seller couldn’t even be bothered to pull the dead leaves out of the engine bay. I’d say based on the care given, it is worth nothing. He should pay to have it hauled away.

1989 928 ClubSport withdrawn from Air Water auction.
As often happens, a private sale occurs or the buyer simply decides to keep the car.

Either way an important data point has been lost to the 928 community...

Not so sure. Few 928 S3 were produced for the RoW markets for the 1986 MY.
This interior looks so "German" that I had to ask.
