That black GTS with magenta interior being auctioned on BaT that was discussed a page or two back has had an interesting trip around the block. Searching its recent history I found:
It was owned by Porsche Woodland Hills last November, and they tried to sell it on Pcarmarket. The high bid of 100k didn't meet reserve.
Very shortly thereafter the car was in the hands of very active BaT seller Wob, who tried to flip it on BaT in January. It sold for 121k to - guess who? - Porsche Woodland Hills, who goes by BaT handle Karz4Kix.
I was watching that auction closely, and just a few days after the auction close I received an email from CarGurus for this same car being offered at Porsche Woodland Hills again, this time for 159,900.
I received another email from CarGurus about the recent price drop to where it is now, 119,928. Over a thousand less than they bought it back for on BaT.
I was thinking about offering them $105k for it, but I just cannot stomach that magenta interior. If the dash, console and steering wheel were black, I could do it. But it's just too much magenta. Too bad, cuz everything else about the car seems decent enough, including the mileage. I wonder what PWH is going to do with it next.
You'd think that a premier auction house that has spent what they've spent marketing the car properly, to get the year of the car correct.
Probably looking at the registration docs.... suspect it was an early 89, so manufactured/registered in 88?
Awesome 928 to have though.....
Where's my lotto ticket
I think I recall correctly that a car's model year in Germany (and most of Europe?) is the year in which it is first registered to an owner other than Porsche AG. Thus, this car would be an '89 if it had been shipped to US, but is an '88 because first European registry was late '88..
It's a 1988 produced and registered 928, of the 1989 model-year (technical defintion).
I agree that there are differences between the 1988 and 1989 MY 928 CS's so this car should be described as a 1989.
It's the 6th of the 7 1989 or 18th ot the 19 "production" CS's.
