Thanks everyone for the FANTASTIC comments during the BaT auction today. Everyone's comments were positive and supportive and increased the potential buyer's confidence in my 928. This was my first BaT auction and it was a positive experience all around. Again, THANKS for the TREMENDOUS community support - much appreciated!!

I’m glad you found it a positive experience. I for one am a little disappointed. Your ‘88 was in far better condition than other ‘87-‘88 autos with similar miles yet it didn’t gavel-out nearly as high. Seems, to me, that documented mechanical fitness is still taking a distant second place to interior/exterior color.

To be completely honest, I was hoping for something closer to the high water mark set by the white '87 that went for $50.5K back in January. My '88 came with more factory options including LSD and had more factory and dealer original bits in place and was completely sorted out with brand new tires - just as clean if not cleaner in several respects. Another thing I noticed is the exposure numbers between the two sales. The white '87 sold in January had 20,000+ views and 740 watchers whereas my auction had 1,100 views and 449 watchers. Timing and time of year may have factored in the final result as well.
congrats Dwayne. I was sure that your car should be higher than the previous 2 high auto s4 sold, one black and one white. Thought that the mechanical work would have overcome the maroon interior (not everyone’s taste as compared to the black/beige) and the timing of the year being before Christmas.
Anyway, hope you are satisfied with the results and you’re staying safe with all these wildfires in california during the past few years!
hopefully we will continue to get your input here and on BaT in the future! Stay in touch

I'd agree. Even if the burgundy is in as new condition it still takes some getting used to. You have to really like it. If it was black trim, or blue with linen accents it would have sold for far more I think. Given there are quite a few good cars out there, most buyers can bide their time and wait for something to come up that takes their fancy.
^^ Ok so I had to google the good reverend and he is definitely a Porsche guy from way back. Also check out who took the photograph of him in this article. lol! Can't make that stuff up.
^^^ Ok upon further investigation the Reverend is a serious Porsche guy and appearent automotive restoration expert. Those 928s he has may actually be pretty nice.
and here's another from the most recent Pano. I e-mailed seller requesting more info, pics, and will post up here if/when seller responds. I'd bet Hoi can shed some more light on these recent Pano 928 listings...not to much gets by him T

Meteror gray ‘86.5 been onsale on Craigslist for the past year. Maroon interior with cracks on the dash. I’ve seen asking as low as $19.5k in the past month.
Emailed the great reverend too but pretty quiet. Maybe he’s working on his Sunday sermons.
