    Dwayne

Happy New Year I hope you were not affected by the fires in Cali.
I seem to have the incorrect email address. If you find this please send me a copy of your Motor Mont install instruction. A friend is about to do his and I checked my copy and the pictures are missing. Please send to waynestrutt@295.ca
How is your new location in Oregon?, Everything finished?
    Take care
    Thanks

    Hey Dwayne!

I've been following your amazing timing belt write up and I've hit a snag and hoping you might have a fix. I've gotten to the point where the new timing belt is on, everything is lining up great, dampener is on, fly-lock tool out and I'm ready to rotate the engine to get to TDC. But, for some reason now, the engine doesn't want to rotate over. The starter and spark plugs are out as well. It has been sitting a month since I started the timing belt project, but I feel like it should turn much more freely than it is. Anything I may be missing or tips? It's a 1990 S4. Thanks a ton and hope all is well!

    Hi Dwayne,

Just wanted to say thanks for the awesome photo guides you post! Excellent for a noob hobbyist like me! They are absolutely the best and makes anyone scared of old cars into a top-notch mechanic.

    Dwayne,

I am in awe of the level of information, detal and pics you have posted on your site! I have a 86.5 that looks great but needs significant TLC underneath - to the tune of about 10k at my local shop. I started following the Porsche 928 group on Facebook (they pointed me in your direction). thru several discussions I have decided to start turning my own wrenches on it over the next few years. I am starting with TB/WP, then brakes all around, front end suspension, motor mounts and misc belts, hoses, lines. I have spent the morning reading just about all your posts and wanted to say thanks for taking the time to completely document your repairs. I will be lucky to take before/after pic's - ha!

I am new to this website and I am in need of help. My 1980 928 has the strangest issues with the instrument cluster. I pulled the CE board and cleaned it all up, I cleaned most of the grounds! (Got the ones on the engine, by the headlights, behind the CE, under the dash, Battery. The temp gauge, fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge are all really messed up. The oil pressure gauge is always spiked, the fuel gauge spikes almost all of the time, and the temp gauge spikes if you turn the light switch to the halfway point (the light switch is messed up too) and randomly at other times. When you move the wires around on the back, the gauges move all over the place and random warning lights come on, the gauge illumination lights do not work either. I think it is the cluster myself but I was told by the owner of 928s RUS that it is probably the circuit foil. I have no idea what to do. Please help me.

    Hello Newworld,
I have not had the need to replace the cam chain guide yet. All the S4s I've worked on have been well under 50K miles so I did not consider them worn at this time. It may be a while before I try it but I would probably do a write up. In the meantime, it might be good to post something on Rennlist 928 Forum stating you did a search and couldn't find what you were looking for and ask if anyone knows of a write up.

love your work....have you done the cam chain guide replacement? i heard there are some cam chain guides that wear out over time and need to be replaced for each bank, or it could become costly engine repair......cant seem to find a write up on that subject....

    Hello Lee,
There are two write ups relating to A/C I've posted - one for fixing vacuum leaks and the other for fixing the A/C compressor relay in the head unit. Both of these can be found by doing a search. While on the 928 forum, select search this forum and select "advanced search" then on the right side of the screen search by user name. enter my name "Dwayne" in the box and in the pull down menu, select "find threads started by user" then click on the search button. Also, you can visit Dwayne's Garage. There's a link to it in my signature - nearly all my procedures are there. For convenience, I've copied the two links below. Hope this helps. If not, send me a PM.

    Hey Dwayne!

I recall that you once posted an A/C system overhaul write-up and it was housed in the 928 DIY tech areas. I see your other write-up's there and no A/C write-up. Has this write-up been moved and could you lead me to where it’s located.

    Thanks in Advance!

    Lee
