Seller stated that they are 16x9, but didn't mention the offsets. Weren't only 928's clubsports have 9" diameters with 8" fronts? 951's were I thought 7 or 7.5 with 8 or 9?
Anyway, these are not D90s. They are legit CS wheels for $650 for the entire 4!
Worth to strip the paint and anodized them or powder coat them again.
This one needs rescued, as it is in the hands of someone who does not know what to do with it. I would not pay anything close to a premium for it however.
Hi All - I drove about 6 hours RT plus a couple hours to look at this car with the intent to buy (after extensive review of pictures, FaceTime and discussion with the seller) and it fell short of my expectations so I passed. The nice owner is what we might call a casual enthusiast, so although he didn’t deliberately mislead, his lack of knowledge led him to believe a few things that were not.
The car has been restored, probably after a long sit partially exposed to the sun. Dash, glovebox and center console recovered (well) in vinyl. Sun damage to things on the right side of the car (pass seat, right rear interior trim). The whole or most of the car has been repainted. It looks nice, but the pass door and right rear quarter don’t match. Not terrible, but obvious. Fair to good driver quality paint with some light sanding marks and some slightly substandard body work on the left quarter. The car has some needs: OPG, motor mounts, AC, resistor pack needs replaced and a bunch of little cosmetic details. The big question in my mind is the mileage: it didn’t seem quite consistent with a 34k mile car but I couldn’t be sure. There was a questionable mileage report but it could have been an error. Overall, a very nice driver quality car that will need a few grand in catch up maintenance, some leather work and more depending on how far you want to go.

I had quite few exchanges with the seller about this one when it was on CL for 25k (not to buy but to help out the seller a bit). The owners don’t want to put money into it and it has the needs of a typical 100k mile S4 that’s been seldom used for a while plus the dash and pod would need to be replaced as we all know what happens when you glue on those horrible plastic caps. I would re-do the timing belt, and would expect some AC work, timing gears, intake refresh and I suspect the OPG and motor mounts will be needed, plus a few more surprises. I would also want to see the paint repair.
I agree with Ed that this needs to be rescued and brought back to its glory (and it could be glorious), but will need some $$ and time for the DIY (or more $$$ if you ask one of the skilled 928 guys to make it right). A little cleaning, better pictures and attention to some simple details would make a world of difference to the presentation, which I also shared with the seller. Seems like the owner and seller just want to unload it with minimal effort. Maybe they got real with the reserve but we will see.
This car is a complete basket case. It is a Euro twin dizzy (310 hp / 295 ft*lb), not available in the states and the highest-powered production 16V 928 V8 made. (In 1984 the highest-powered US 928S was 234 hp / 263 ft*lb.) The manual transmission/transaxle, engine, wheels, and H4 headlamp assemblies, and maybe some dash bits and exterior glass are really the value you'll get out of this car. The rest of it is potential recycling.
It DOES NOT drive. I will not part it out. Price is FIRM. Yes, you'll need a trailer. I can help load it. I will not deliver. Call or text is best. If the ad is up it is still available. True mileage and history unknown.

Not worth it unless one wants the euro headlights and the engine. Needs everything. Should be priced as a parts car.
Trying to sell it for >1-2 years. He asked for $6k for the longest time.
The 79 5 speed with 26,000 miles went for $57,120 including buyers premium at Sotheby's today. I missed the white GTS result and it has not been posted yet.

Wow...that’s gotta be a new high water mark for an OB ? Thanks for the follow up Dave T
Great price and results!
Imagine if it was '78 with pascha! Could've hit $70-75k with those combos.
Maybe it is worth to restore some of the beaten up '78/79 manuals...
Ed, Bluemaxx would blow this car away!

I'm going through this right now. Restoring a 79 RHD manual non sunroof. Minerva blue with blue / black pascha interior. I wouldn't think there be a great deal of early RHD manuals left on the road.
