Now that the event is over I'm back to working on the 928. Today's job was to pull the BQB80 amp and replace it with a proper Fosgate Punch P400XD. 50w per channel *4 at 4 ohms. So far it's going pretty well, I was feeding the BQB from the blaupunkt preamp outputs from my Heidelberg head unit (it's 10w/channel, so it saturates the BQB's speaker level inputs which expect 5w/channel) but I might just run a dedicated cable from the head unit to the Rockford since I can only use 2 channel input and lose the fader. Coupled with the Hans 4 inch speakers and tweeters in the door+a pair of 6.5 inch Earthquake speakers in the middle (nothing back) I've got the speakers for it.
Still, it sounds *good* playing my reference tones ("Shoot to Thrill" by AC/DC) and with a little work should fit in the space of the old amp. Only issue is airflow, it's going to get warm in there. Anyone ever added a vent or fan to that little cover? Or I could pull the passenger seat and mount it there, it's about time I rebuilt those seat motors....
If you don't crank it, it should stay fairly cool. It's a compact class D amp. They don't get hot like older class A/B amps do so a vent wont be needed.
Mounting it under the seat is also a good option if you feel up to it! You really cannot go wrong with that amp, it does its job very well for what it is.
I drove the **** out of it! 7hr ride back from Frenzy made in 5.5....got a tire (or 3) out of balance...over 60 it shakes, over 80...like a carnival ride gone bad...but made it home in one piece! Never ceases to amaze me!
I finally got the passenger door of my car to unlock.
Possibly not a grand achievement in the scope of various projects undertaken, but even though it'd been opened before I towed the car home I couldn't get it to budge from either the key or the interior **** after it arrived.
Today, I finally pulled the small door card and with a good bit of fishing around blindly, spraying a little bit of lock lube in (guiding the lube into the lock mechanism with a spray straw fished down through the lock indicator hole) and wiggling the ****, it reluctantly unlocked.
Now I can check if that lock matches the others in the car, as well as finally being able to get to the electrical panel without leaning across the center console!
Bad luck?
We order online from 928intl, in two days arrive a wrong TT?, shipped back with mine, they change bearings and shipped back to us.
We installed and with the first move that's what happen..?!
Cost me over 1K and finally use the TT from my parts car...

To be clear your shop ordered a 3sp torque tube online which we sent.
I broke out my new hand-held vacuum pump, fully intending to at least start the process of resolving my HVAC issues.
First job: test the whole system at the brake booster venturi.
While visually tracing the vacuum lines, and trying to decide whether to test before or after the check valve, something didn't look right.
Some bozo (and I swear it wasn't me) had installed the check valve backwards!
I only noticed because I DID install a new check valve in the other car, and got it right.
A quick unplug, reverse it, and reconnect (and cut the cable ties holding the heater valve shut) and when I start the car, the heater valve closes, and I can hear vaccum pods operating inside the dash.
WIN!
Now to replace the AC compressor, swap in the R134 hoses and seals, and get someone to gas it up.
Hopefully it will be done before summer ends.

Reason: Spulling
Today I took a look at the blue car that is in hibernation during the winter. It is very much shinier and cleaner than all the dirty cars that drive by now when the weather is really bad out there. I have also started to polish off some minor scratches on the hood. Hopefully it will not be long before we get the same beautiful summer weather as in the pictures.

Picked up my car from Greg/Kyle at Precision after they worked their magic...asked them to inspect nose to tail and authorized some needed work (despite the low mile, '90GT I just purchased). Once this was completed, it was time for a thorough detail and coating from a local guru. Looks as good, if not better, than when it left the dealership for the first time.

Not the final look as it would be all covered up. Pretty much new everything in including a PKT. Starts and runs fine but not driven yet. In the middle of an ATF change whilst its up on the race ramps.
Bought the new rubber for the gas cap a couple of yrs ago... Installed it today... Along with the drip rails. That was nerve racking but they went on smoothly.
