Burning Brakes
The S4s are supposed to make 290 tq at the flywheel correct? So 270 seems about right at the tires.

Three Wheelin'
Finished install of xpipe and hi flow cats. Easy job once I got the correct clamps (they shipped to Roger four 2 1/2" clamps instead of two of them and two of 2 1/4. Roger hooked me up and all is good! Short run to best buy and enjoying the extra oomph !!

Removed the old Thermostat along with a (pain in the butt to remove) inner seal and external O-ring... cleaned up all the surfaces / corrosion and replaced with all new. Jury-rigged the heater core vaccum / plunger valve thingy in the closed position for summer (so the interior isnt a sweat shop) and we are set for SUMMER!!!!

Now that the work for now is done (finished install of x-pipe and hi flow cats yesterday WOOT!).. time for a wash and wax! Cannot say enough about the before and after of having it color sanded a couple weeks ago! Too bad my photo skills (taken using my iPhone4) are severly lacking!

Drifting
Technically, it's very heavy compounding, that can be preceded by the use of very fine grit sand paper.
I'm going to head out in a few minutes to finish replacing the factory thread inserts(heli-coils) in the rear hub carriers/uprights where the brake calipers mount. About a year ago, mine started pulling out. It's an issue I don't recall ever being mentioned on any of the discussion boards. It seems that the aluminum that the insert goes into, corrodes and then removal and install the brake caliper a few times, and it starts coming out. Aside from looking like a straightened slinky when I pull them out the rest of the way steel inserts appear to be intact. The aluminum OTOH, is very powdery.
I'm using a "Big-Sert" kit from time-sert. Big-serts are used in applications where an insert has previously been used and failed. I bought the kit from toolskwik.com for about $100. It includes a drill bit for drilling out the hole. A countersink bit, a tap, the driver for installing the insert, and five inserts. The 16.2mm inserts are a perfect length for this job. The only tools you need are a tap handle and a drill. I'll take my phone outside with me when I install the remaining two and post a few pics.

Starting day two of the intake replacement. yesterday was mostly disassemble and clean. Rob Edwards is helping with the technical stuff like getting the electrical connectors from the injectors and the like. A couple of the correct vapor vent hoses should be here later from GB to allow final assembly. So far, all everything in the V has been in ood to excellent condition. Nothing stiff or crispy. Valley contamination is mostly road dirt. No slime or evidence of any leakage. The knock sensor wiring is all of the damage we've found so far.
I need to get the CPS out and replaced. I may have an hour before Rob gets back. Wish me luck!
