While putting deoxit on my coolant level sensor I discovered why it didn't work. Sensor was popped out of the top of the large nut that holds it in the tank.
Ordered a new one from Roger along with my Euro Headlights and wiring harness.

Drove the snot out of it for a half hour. 928 therapy. Even managed to spot the hidden po po on the shoulder below the overpass well in time to stay in the right lane and slow down to 60.

Discovered the marvels of Deoxit. Applied it to my MAF connector and a puzzling, intermittent idle fluctuation was remedied.

Re-attached the GT's A/C compressor back onto the motor...

I noticed a belt squeal the last couple of days with the A/C running (summer is finally here), and investigation revealed a loose belt. So lift the car, pull off the belly pan, and discover that the compressor is hanging by two hoses and a belt (and the belly-pan). Self-tensioning, but not doing a very good job of it.

The rear M10 mounting bolt had fractured and disappeared, the front bolt was securely attached but the piece of the cast bracket that it was securely attached to was broken off. The remaining stub of the M10 was well and truly seized, finally drilled and ground it out until I could peel out the threads, and happened to have a spare bracket. On reassembly the M8 adjuster bolt to the block stripped, it had gotten pulled out also. So spent the rest of the afternoon looking for the M8 Time-Sert kit that I had bought a couple of years ago, just in case. Sue finally found it, right where I said I had last seen it. Eddie's in the space-time continuum, happens a lot around here.

There was no sign of impact or pavement damage, the bolt fracture looked old but I am not sure about the cast bracket... one side looked fresh and the other side not so much. The bottom of the adjuster bracket is ground off, but from before our ownership -- 5 years and 80K miles ago, probably not a factor.

Never a dull moment...

We bring the poll out, somebody starts dancing and everything goes downhill from there...

Cruised 800 miles north in 100º+ central valley heat today, to show the car its new digs. Finally started to cool off north of Mt Shasta. AC was frigid as usual so no comfort worries in the cabin, but the 106º outside caused the temp gauge to go up a few needle-widths beyond normal. Plus the oil pressure gauge, normally buried at 2200 RPM hot, was showing just a hair less than 5 bar. Not feeling the need for Amsoil quite yet, but was thinking about it while motoring through the "hot zone".

Car is __very__ dusty.

I learned that to determine the drill bit size for a m8 x 1.0 bolt is 8 minus 1 or 7 mm drill bit size for a tap for m8x1….pretty cool…and if english units

drill bit size = bolt diameter minus 1/thread pitch….

I always wondered how they figured that out…..

No mechanics today. Beautiful sunny day up here and put 350 miles on roundtrip to pick up someone from an airport.

I took this... did a bunch of this and that... and, among other things, got this!

Not just '90.... happened up my '91GT a while back. Had an annoying rattle and intermittent a/c - same bracket failure.

Got fed up with my dual din Nav unit being so low in the dash so I relocated the HVAC controls and moved it up higher.

Came out pretty good.
