So what did you do to your 928 Today......

Replaced a munched bumper cover. Judging from the WSM, you would think this would be a simple procedure, but between rusted and frozen bolts and getting the new cover to align into the mounting holes, this became a multi day project.

Fixed an AIRBAG MALFUNCTION. I have now addressed this problem on the left side (six years ago) and on the right side (today). Very easy when you know what you're doing. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Interesting aside: even when you have SharkTuner PEMs installed in the LH/EZK, you can still use a diagnostic tool like the DT999 to reset the airbag fault. That's good; I remembered hearing that the PEMs precluded using diagnostic tools, but I guess it's only access to the LH/EZK that is a problem.

Ehh...technical speaking I'm cheating, as this was all yesterday...
Anyway: after having changed the internal fuel pump (with the in-between fuel hose broken, of course ! But caught it in time before having rubber bits getting into my external fuel pump) + oil & oil filter + radiator & engine coolant a forthnight ago, I finally changed the air-pump filter and air engine filter. Wow: the old ones were dirty...(my own fault as I had not changed them yet this year).

Then took her for a good drive as it was a beautiful day (and yes: those are winter tires, as these cars are made for driving - only bears hibernate in Finland
).

Uncovered the car a couple days ago and connected the battery. A quick wipe with instant-detailer and it looked great again. Ran a few errands. Funny ticking noise from RR. Up on the lift, screw in the tire. 20 mins later it's fixed. Drove to breakfast this morning with the church crowd, then took a two-hour tour of the local mountains that included part of Rob E's Sharktoberfest fun-drive route. Fall colors with great weather today-- 70º and sunny, made for an excellent drive.
I may be getting too old for this car though. For a lot of the tour I had the cruise set at 40mph, windows open, enjoying the clean air and the spectacular scenery. Lots of good nods and waves from the knee-draggers too. I used a lot of turn-outs today.
Then back under the cover until Christmas.

My digital odometer/speedometer/voltmeter is almost ready to install in the car. The digits actually look much better than they appear in the photo. And they'll look better still, when I find some red filter material.

Built one.
Data, photos, and results tomorrow just now taking a break from welding. Im attempting to tune more for 2200rpm where the peak DB was the highest in the RPM band WRT 'obvious exhaust cabin drone'.
---
Early results:
2200 RPM flat cruise before
2200 RPM uphill cruise after

Replaced a $29.00 Transmission reservoir and $15 spring kit which was made easier by dropping exhaust. I’m getting good at this. Cleaned a bunch of stuff along the way. Replaced Transmission filter and gasket. No surprises found and actually didn’t break anything for once. Also, relieved Flex-Plate tension and installed a PKlamp.
The existing reservoir was loose because nuts molded into the plastic were stripped by PO and the unit was rattling. I had to carve up the unit with Dremel to get at the nuts.
A long day but productive preventative maintenance. Lots O Labor for a measly $60 worth of parts. Next up are Transmission mounts and XPipe Install.

I did a little of this and a little of that - engine bay - interior stuff. I have come along way since last October 2010 when I purchased this interesting car.
Frigin cold last night. Had ice forming from the pooled rain. Time to put the winter windshield on the motorbike.

While I have a few projects planned for the 928 this winter, it won't get out much due to being in the Chicago area. So for now it is in hibernation.

dismantled my prior project in order to send it to the pound and make room for the new project I picked up from "86_5Tiburon." Took off stuff that I can either sell, use on the new project, or shelf for just in case parts.
Next weekend plan to move on to the new hybrid project and take out engine, TT and transmission. Then put her on jack stands and take off the suspension. Then get parts ready to sell like the g28/11 tranny and S4 suspension and Euro hybrid stuff from the old project.
It is going to be a long winter of work.
