Was a busy night here. I did an exhaust swap from an old scragly straight pipe to the new to me cat back I bought at hershey. Then upgraded the headlights to 7 inch H4s. All this on the 79 smorgasporsche, thats like a ratrod, its a driving parts car made up of all the leftover parts from my other cars so it got the name smorgasporsche. Then after I that brought in #131 and upgraded its headlights from rusty old H4s to a set of S4 8 inch lights and modified the wiring harness to match. After that I brough in the guards red 79 to see if I can find the brake fluid leak.... Found the one seal for the resevour had split should be an easy fix just have to find some new seals. But thats a job for tomorrow.....

Picked up my rebuilt oil lines. (slightly modified with a swivel fitting) Going back in tomorrow.. Woop!

Swapped out the mount bushings on the rear upper control arms. The old parts pressed out easily with a vise. A quick wipe of the bores followed by a thin film of Dow 111 non-hardening silicone grease on the bore and the bushing and back in they went using the vise as a press. Coated the cone washer and mount mating surfaces with a bit of 50/50 moly grease and anti-seize paste. Will torque the fasteners tomorrow and remove the lower arms from the hubs for transport to a shop with a press for the inner bushings.

Not much, just:
Checked belt tension for first time after the winter hibernation. Unchanged and where I want it.
Replaced small O-ring at tension sensor connector on the outer timing belt cover - was to loose for my liking.
Reseated and tightened down the rear wiper.
Took her out in the sun, and turned heads throughout The County.

Swapped out a 4-way seat switch (driver's side not moving forward) with the working passenger side. At least the driver's seat is working now. Next step is repair or replace the faulty switch and put it back in the passenger seat.

Installed a new radio in car #38 found that the front speakers rattled like crazy and the back ones didn't work at all. Pulled the back apart and replaced the rear speakers, will do the fronts another night they are way easier to get to. Then moved back to the guards red 79, I couldn't buy the gromets I needed so had to buy a whole new master will be here fri aft. So I continued with replacing the clutch master cyl. It was sucking air and the pedal was not returning properly then after that I replaced the drivers side window motor that was working intermitantly. Oh and freed up the parking brake, the handle button was hanging up just ended up taking it apart and lubing everything and then reassembling it. Also recieved a set of rear rotors today for the silver 79 may start on that tomorrow, hopefuly the rest of the parts come in today. Thats it for tonight

last night:

Cut banjo off old fuel line and cut hard line off accumulator, where it has rusted onto permanently. prepped underneath for re-install of fuel tank, cussed a little bit....banjo bolt was not in box of crap in back of car when I bought it...!@#$%&*(?!#!! (anyone know the size / specs on the banjo bolt fitting on the fuel pump...I don't think I will find it at Autozone)

Yesterday: new rear Hankook V12 285/35/18 tires installed, put on registration sticker 2 months late and had coworker drop me off at airport in it and he'll take this weekend to get inspected

New GTS windshield seals and trim. I was able to get my trim off without damage, but they changed the design to lock into a groove in the seal that holds them in place. So, you have to buy them together.

On today's menu we'll start with an appetizer of waterbridge O-ring served with new head o rings and possible paper gaskets if so desired. For the main course we have a nice 928intl oil baffe and side of paper gasket and freshly caught oil filler o ring.

Once upon a time the passenger door-panel light was broken (the light would stay in the door, but one end of it would always get loose and start to come away from the carpet) I went to a u-pull-it junkyard to look for a couple of parts for my daughters Accord and got distracted by some of the wrecked Passats; pulled a couple of the interior lights with their harnesses and walked out $6 poorer. Disassembeled the lights, primed and painted the outer portions, reassembeled the parts, spliced the wires from the door to the harness (which conveniently were the same colors for both ends) and put them in the doors. Like the dome light, they were a perfect fit. I think they're a cleaner look, and certainly cheaper than OEM.
