I replaced and reconnected the vacuum line from the 5 way to the hard line connected to the transmission on the GTS. I did a search and found a good and direct way to get it done in about 30 minutes. I would have been done faster, but I have relatively large hands and my hand got stuck between the tunnel and the bell housing. It finally came down to how much skin and blood I was willing to lose and how long I was willing to stay stuck there. (about 5 seconds, then another 10 minutes to stop the bleeding )

So all I did was drive the dark blue S4 last night and the silver '92 GTS tonight. Both nights someone wanted to run me...
You will get a kick out of last nights... Hyundai Tiburon! LOL! FULL of young adults! I think they just liked the sound of the '88 with the RMB and wanted to hear it go by at high speed and high rpm as much as possible. It was SOOOO funny!
Tonight was more serious...350Z with NICE wheels and exhaust. Poor guy has probably never seen a GTS before and thought, "I OWN this guy!". Not even close! Didn't matter if we were coming off a stop light or rolling on! Hell I'd even let him jump me and I would STILL real him in almost instantly! Funny...around corner maybe? Nope, stopped at turn lane, him behind me but back a bit so he could roll on early... STILL not close!
I love my 928's! The S4 would have been a close run for the Z, but I think it still would have been faster!

Les Schwab diagnosed both my front tires were out of round and bad inner bead line. I was getting feedback to the wheel even after balancing and alignment. Turns out my Kumho's were both defective. Discount Tire came through and replaced them....woohoo new shoes up front!

So...was a long day...spent it at a shop that does some of the tougher work for me, but allowed me to help on the easy labor as well.

I have a set of four QM 160 competition 6 1/2" bass drivers with tweeters and cometition crossovers from an old competition project I had. VERY nice..if you can still find some. These are going in the rear. The FAR rear of the car..will get new speaker covers, but there will be no drivers back there.

Sound deadended the outter door skin, and inner skin, plus added a moisture barrier. Heavy plastic sheeting is over the door hole there held in with butyl.

Doors...did the zip tie mod to tighten up the guides on the regulator. On the pass side, the knock in the window assy was that the regulator guide post insert was worn away (928 537 285 02). So I brought the rubber pad up, and blew epoxy in there, pushed pad down to the bottom, its now "secure". No future repair needed, you'll have to impact the door with a bus to rattle there again. Ran new good wire into the doors, and for now..front drivers to remain stock waiting for Hans's new super drivers to show up in August.
And...used the cage of the OEM rear speakers, to create a mount for the MBQ's.

Modified it to hang the MBQ tweeters with the main drivers...

Wandered about the shop..

Borrowed this COOL epoxy gun...use any standard sized dual epoxy cartridge. Has removable tips that mix it for you as you pump it out, and you can let this sit for months in the drawer..just pull out the hardened tip, snap on a new one. About $0.25 per tip..I gotta get one!

Used the epoxy (will get name of it later) to use to add strength and rebuild the door card mounts. We used washers.

(Rebuilt whole new area around this really busted one, where the broken parts were not to be found)
Used bitchin super glue to totally wet down the trim card..lay down some FG to it, wet it down with the super glue, then hit it with a shot of the activator.
Damn..that was impressive, card is now _solid_ again where it was only held together by the carpet.

Should be all done by noon tomorrow..dudes cleaning up PO stereo wire mess, running signal and remote power cable to the sharkwoofer...tomorrow will be a nice day when its done.

Got the new diaphram from Roger for my center (comb) vent. The flap hinge was broken, so I got it out and 'rehinged' it, then reinstalled it. The center vent now works for the 1st time in 5 years. Ran my dash & leather over to the uphostery shop. Should get that back in two weeks. That was on the 83. I then got under the 81 and finished dropping the TT.

Driver Seat twist - Right Hip Pain - Call me House
A few days ago I came down with a sore right hip. First I blamed Obama but then noticed that the drivers seat was torqued right. Fiddling with the electric seat controls I determined the right back horizontal movement was not in sync with the left horizontal movement. The right side would move but then get hung up at some point despite "manually muscling it". So I removed the seat and began exploration. The pic is below(motor in middle) but it looks like horizontal motion is controlled by a single motor that spins cables to each corner that in turn rotates screws to adjust horizontal angle. Since the motor and cables work I need to peel back the leather to see why the right side gets hung up. That exercise will wait until tomorrow. Any insights are welcome.

My suggestion is don't break it if it is not already broken... SUPER EXPENSIVE! Part (I think the bit you need comes in pairs) is over $550! Last I checked anyway! My '94 GTS needed that 12 years ago or so...Cha-CHING!

Replaced my old alternator hose with a brand new one. While in there I added a filter, or catch, to keep things / creatures from making their way up the hose. Thanks to Ed Scherer for posting photos of the the great idea (https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...or-6-feet.html - post #15).

Used paint-pen's to colour the center caps and then finished them with clear cover lacker (as has been documented many times here on Rennlist - thanks!), went for a long fun drive in the afternoon.
